And next years class will put some strain on that "middle of the pack NIL" funding. Remember, Bruce put the practice facility on hold to put priority on NIL. The number of players needed to fill next year's roster will be at least 10-11, funding for a stable of blue chippers will be tough for that many spots.

Makes sense. Put all the NIL money for a terrible football program and hardly anything for the one program actually winning championships with the best coach who also wants a basketball practice facility. Welcome to Auburn, where logic and reason goes out the window. Football is the only thing that matters here, unfortunately.

I mean between coach buyouts and rebuilding football, only so much to go around, even at Auburn. Bruce essentially said the same thing at a booster event over the summer I went to.

Again though, why put so much money into a lame duck program when you already have a program that’s actually winning and not want to put more money into sustaining that success? It’s going to be really rough after this year, won’t be able to replace 10 guys with average NIL money and expect to be competitive. Again, all they care about is football, no matter how trash it is.

Because the revenue it brings in dwarfs every other program.

Can Auburn admin try to swing more revenue and excitement into the basketball program, and just announce the football games in the church bullentin? I would gladly sacrifice Deuce Knights NIL for another 4 or 5 star basketball player.

It seems like we’re the very few Auburn fans who realize that basketball is a much better investment than football right now and id s the only thing that is keeping Auburn sports relevant.

Only issue is our arena only holds 9,000 and prices are already well up there.

Football has to fill 87,000

I understand honestly, it’s just really frustrating to know that we might lose our competitiveness in basketball in the next few years if we don’t invest into the program. Auburn basketball is much closer to winning a title than football. When Pearl leaves, I don’t want us to become irrelevant in basketball as well.

Apparently the basketball team doesn't have the NIL to win this one. Seems like are closer to middle of the pack in the SEC for basketball NIL. Which would explain why we haven't been winning many of the battles for the elite players and have been getting guys in the mid 100's
It’s not a bad strategy to get multiple quality players that are unlikely to be one and done than to blow your NIL on 1 or 2 blue chip one and dones unless you have a really deep NIL. I think we were in it for the number 1 recruit likely number 1 nba draft pick until BYU offered like $4 million

Combine what you said where we’ve now seemingly focused in on guys in the 50-100 range and not the elites, and several people familiar with the NIL landscape outright saying that Auburn’s NIL isn’t in the same stratosphere as the big schools.

I’m sure Bruce already planned on dropping bags in the portal for experience on the roster, but HS recruiting has had to make a clear pivot because of saving what funds they do have for the portal.

You get 3-4 years with those 50-100 guys, you’re going to have a ton of fun watching them in the tourney every year.

IMO, Problem is where are our 50-100 guys from 2-3 yrs ago? They all transferred out, We have 2 freshmen and that’s it and none are bigs.

Just compare our underclass w/ Bama for instance.

We went all in this yr, Win or bust and that took our $$$$$!
