As for Wade’s comments as a fanbase if you put a quality product on the field the fans will get behind it.

It’s crazy to think as far and “voodoo” and game day atmosphere that we know we are at the top in football but being the toughest place to play in the SEC in basketball is insane. I remember old Beard-Eaves, it seemed like playing in a church lol. The smaller arena is so much better however we could probably pack in around 15k a night right now but the atmosphere would be like Bama or UT

Mr. Francis Sanda is still keeping the official book for AU for home games. Must be going on 30 years+. The Sanda's lived down Green St. in Auburn from me,but his son Mike, a standout sharp-shooter through his high school bball career at AHS and little league baseball growing up stand out. They were also on my OA News delivery route.

If anyone has a chance to go to the scorers table at any time, please, please find Mr. Sanda, and tell him John Freeman from Green St. says hello from Japan. It will probably blow his mind. He and his family are great Auburn people that I have known for over 40 years.

WDE. TIA. Please, someone, pass on my regards to the Sanda's. I can imagine his reaction. Make it happen, please....Fam? WDE.

ETA - I checked Mike's stats at Columbus College in the day. 44% career 3 pt shooting and other milestones. When we were in elementary or jr. high in Auburn, IIRC, he held a consecutive hit free throw record for his age. Maybe Guiness? He / we graduated a year behind Chris Brandt, AU Tigers forward for several years. And we had a few good nights with the dogs at Victoryland. Good times.

Erryone hit up AU book-keeper Mr. Francis Sanda at the scorers table for shits and giggles and to meet a TRUE AUBURN legend. A wonderful man, coach and teacher.

War Eagle. Go Tigers.

Peace on Earth and good will to men, except on tRant. Merry Christmas and safe and happy holidays to everyone in our Auburn family. Let's count our blessings.

The only thing I want for Christmas is for this game to get played Wednesday.

I was just out and about getting the final stocking stuffers for the kids tonight and listening to the CBS sports radio that JOX plays when they're off air locally. And holy cow, I did not realize how bad this new covid surge was affecting sports. I saw the bowl games cancelled, but they rattled off a bunch of NBA coaches and players who are in/about to clear covid protocols and then went on to how the Saints just had to sign a backup QB because there other back up QB was in covid protocol.

I just wanna see tJungle go bananas for a conference opener between possibly the two best teams in the league. LFG & WDE!

To piggyback off this sentiment: SEC announced that as long as teams have 7 scholarship players and 1 coach available, the basketball games will be played.

A game or two might be canceled or postponed, but that should be the extent of it.

I talked to Michelle (Sanda) at a December Christmas Party before COVID, so 2019 IIRC. Doing well and she still lives in Auburn with her family. I knew Mike through Will Gregory another BB player. You may remember him. I don't think Mike talks to his family much these days from what I gathered from Michelle. No idea the reason. I think he lives in Columbus. Merry Christmas.

Preesh Alpine. Pass on my regards to Michelle if or when you are in touch. Mark may remember me. Merry Christmas. Yes, I know Will well. I was a manager for AHS bball and book keeper for away games (Crittenden did home game) and Mr. Brown ran the clock, lol. We have always been good friends with Coach Tolbert, Mrs. Dorothy (best and only typing teacher ever) and Ashley. I always loved Coach Ogle. Missing home a bit these days...

War Eagle. Happy and safe holidays to you and yours.

ETA sorry to take up board space for personal stuff, but as things are slow and Christmas is here, TIA. For any other AHS folks on here, this reminder popped up in my inbox a few days ago. Best friends in high school. RIP Pecker. His elder brother Scott was a standout swimmer at AU.

Auburn, hoops, swimming, Victoryland?

ETA - The Brandts ran The Supper Club, if anyone didn't know

And AHS graduate Mark Sforzini was World Hula Hoop Champion in high school. Oh, and how could I forget Bobby Gibbs? I guess he was in your class. His mom substituted a lot. For anyone who doesn't make the connection, you may know him as Robert Gibbs. He used to be on TV a lot. He is a good person to know and knocks several degrees off of the 7 degrees of separation thing.

frick, might as well throw in Eric Harshbarger and master Legoist(you would be remiss not to spend a few moments to check his shite out - click on anything in his portfolio), and Kate Higgins, Musician and voice actor (Sakura in Naruto for anime people. Not my thing). Kate's Mom Ursula used to run the Terra Cotta Cafe near the police station. I think her catering business is still doing well, if anyone ever needs a really good caterer in Auburn.

And then there's........j/k. I miss home. Lots of really special people associated with Auburn. The more you know...

WDE

Samford Hall Lego

Robert Gibbs

And Ace Atkins, who actually did play DE for AU, so there is some AU football. Sorry not new recruiting info, but I am sure there was some when he was recruited. I wouldn't want to post anything off topic in the recruiting thread, even if a little dated.

AAAAaaaannnnddd I just realized that I am in fact not in the recruiting thread, where this post should probably go.

Sorry everyone. Just me and my dog here together at Christmas.

I may not sleep until LSU.

I couldn't give fewer than 3 fricks. Feel free to call me John. Or Freemanjiro. Just don't call me Shirley.

And as to AU hoops recruiting, and I said this a long time ago, with a bit of help, I could lock down the Philippines to AU connection. I don't think I am exaggerating. I have seen your typical local kids in the poorer outskirts of Cebu City. They fricking play on a horribly sloped court strewn with gravel and bits of cement, in fricking flip flops, and fricking bare feet. I seen't it. On the day Kobe was killed I was playing (watching in awe of these guys) basketball. A little 4-5 year old kid who lived nearby came up and sat down next to me and just kept repeating "Kobe Bryant is dead. Mamba is dead." True story. That was where I was and when and how I heard it.

I hope I am not on this here AU Basketball recruiting thread in another 3-5 years when someone else is getting the best of the best recruits in the Philippines (outside of Europe, maybe China and the occasional Aussie - most of those potential pipelines and connections have already been built.

I love me all kinds of Bruce Pearl. I need to get him or someone close to Japan, to start. Brilliant guard play anyone? Then we can head to Cebu and Bruce can take his shirt off and sit around and watch some kids do shite that will blow his mind.

Like walking barefoot 3 miles to get to the court. Then and there it is time to put on your Jordans and play. No Jordans, no problem. Flip flops or bare feet...doesn't matter all that much. They love basketball. A bit of space, a ring or basket and a ball, hopefully about the size of a basketball (ideally, a real basketball) with ideally, some air in it. And there you have basketball. Let's play.

TLDR - I'd like to lock down most all of Asia and inject the very best hoops talent in that pool directly into CBP and AU Hoops teams' veins ASAP. I can't do it by myself, Fam. Sorry. I could use some help if anyone can help or cares to. No joke. War Damn

I have a lot of special friends (family? like the Auburn Family, or the dog of a lifetime that of course is family) in the Philippines. A Goddaughter and the newest grandchild in my "Filipino" family, named John Luke. Named for me, it seems. The kicker is that he already has an older brother by 3 years, named John Derrick, from a different relationship and father (a-hole son of Philippines Amazon VP). Do any of you have a sibling with the same name? It is hard enough distinguishing between fathers and sons with the same name (little / big John?, John T. or John D.?...especially by phone (back before the internetz). But brothers with the same name?

Their home (my home there - I have spent a short amount of time living with and getting to know them all. 14 in the immediate family of my Godaughter's mother. All of their names begin with the letter R. No shite. Parents Ricardo and Rosalie, eldest daughter Rhona, mom to my God-daughter, Ricardo Jr, Rheynar, Rhaylen, Reggie, Rihanna, Radish, and Rookie, aged 2 when we first met) was blown away last Friday by Odette / Rai. Still no water, even dirty water to filter and sterilize. It has been a tough week, for a lot of people.

The past several years have been very hard for us. Covid, Corona, jobs lost.... Insert James Brown "If you don't work, you cain't eat" 70' Soul Train episode #69. Not sure if that really exists actually, but it should if it doesn't.

I guess I will say good night. Peace on Earth, good will towards men. Just two drinks tonight. It's enough.

War Eagle.

John

Freeman you don’t need the 2 drinks. Maybe you passed. You can do this dude.

You got most of the board behind you bro.

Even if you did have the 2 drinks now let’s go 2 weeks without any. Then let’s shoot for 2 more weeks without any…. Repeat

Bad form blzr. C'mon.

Freeman, Mike is a ghost. I'm an interloper in Auburn but he doesn't frequent Auburn as far as I can tell. I've only run into Michelle that one time but he's not a visitor. Weird situation.
