frick that contract for anyone, especially a guy who gets half his ABs at Coors Field.
Not a fan of Bryant either, TBH.
Considering Arenado’s contract he would be significantly cheaper to acquire. I hate to break it to you, but we aren’t just going to farm another chipper. Bryant is a .290 30 homer guy. If you aren’t a fan of that, then you will continue to be disappointed.

If we let Donaldson off on a fairly reasonable deal for fricking Ozuna I’m going to be livid. Typical Braves shite, “well we were in on every guy, but we have to make the moves that make sense and we’re not going to force something that’s not right for the club.”

Well yea? The Braves are run by a corporation. So obviously the stock price is most important. They’re not just going to hand out a $100 million contract because the internet GMs say it’s a good idea.

Not the least bit surprised, but definitely disappointed.
So far my expectations for next year are low. We will have mediocre starting pitching, above average offense, and a good bullpen. We are an organization that chases its own tail, the front office won’t spend more than a certain amount of money, and that’s just how it is going to be.

Really, we’re run by a corporation?
Very helpful.

Last year it seemed like we were just a couple of pieces away. Now it seems like we will be lucky to finish 2nd in our own division. Nearly everyone in division will either hold fast or improve, save the fish.
We improved the bullpen. Thank the Lord.
We have regressed or stayed stagnant in every other facet. We needed a bat, we lost our cleanup guy with 37 homers. We needed an ace pitcher, we signed an old 3/4th guy, which can only reasonably be seen as a band-aid for losing Teheran and Keuchel.
I wasn't one to be gung ho about re-signing JD, if circumstances allowed us to let him walk. But it's clear we have no options to replace him.

What specific players and prospects would you be willing to part with to get Arenado?

Didn’t have a good feeling about resigning him after this much time went by. Apparently JD liked the idea of playing in MN with KC and Detroit rebuilding. Guessing the Braves went cheap. AA has always been high on Riley, so wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the guy.

My surprise with him signing with the Twins is the length of the deal. With how hitter friendly that park is, I'd have thought he'd sign a 2 year year with option the cash out even larger.

Yep. I'd consider making Shea Langeliers part of any trade package going forward for this reason.

One more thing about Bryant:

I neglected to mention that Kris Bryant’s grievance (which is now over 1700 days old!) could end up allowing him to reach free agency one year earlier if it’s ruled that the Cubs messed around with his service time too egregiously. So the Braves would have to invest significantly for what might end up being a rental in their eyes.

Why Shea Langeliers and not Contreras?

Langeliers is a Boras client. Get that poison out of this organization as much as possible.

I didn't even realize that. It wouldn't surprise me if Langeliers is MLB ready before Contreras, that's why I posed the question.

Liberty Media can't and doesn't have any control over the Braves payroll.
Take it up with Terry McGuirk

Yep, heard fast rising 3rd base prospect Fin Flex is going to be ready before the All-Star break anyway. This clears the way for Fin.

Are you suggesting that the owner of the team doesn’t set budgets for things like payroll? AA can spend what he is allowed to spend. It’s his call on how we spend it.

Its been explained multiple times on here but once again
From another link
quote:
MLB owners had to approve the "exchange", and were concerned that LM would neglect the Braves. LM agreed to let the Braves run independently of LM as a condition of the exchange.
- LM left Terry McGuirk as the chairman of the Braves, and he runs the company. All financial and operational decisions ultimately are his. LM does not interfere with the operations.
- LM does not use the Braves as a tax "writeoff". Meaning, LM can t benefit in tax breaks by having the Braves lose money. All revenue generated by the Braves remains with the Braves; LM does not benefit directly from increased revenue generation.
- LM is forbidden by exchange laws and the SEC from injecting cash into the Braves, as LM is a publicly traded company subject to strict fiduciary responsibility and SEC oversight. Owners Of LM Stock don't benefit from

Its rumored that the Twins were the only team to give the 4th guaranteed. It was thought the Braves, Nationals, etc, all had higher AAV but walked away on giving the 4th year.
