On the heels of Amanda Jaeger's declaration that she was leaving KTHV's early-morning anchor slot for a senior job at Walmart Inc., KATV morning anchor Alyson Courtney has announced that she is leaving Channel 7 to help her two daughters with acting opportunities.

Jaeger, the popular former Miss Kansas, left Channel 11 at the start of April to become senior manager, digital strategy and brand management, at Walmart Inc. in Bentonville. Courtney, who spent years in the anchor chair at KTHV before departing for KATV in March 2011, said on Facebook that she's leaving TV news to focus on family, particularly her girls' budding acting careers.

Both anchors were clearly tired of their alarm clocks. Courtney even led her news with it.

"After 14 years of getting up at 2:30 in the morning, I'm stepping away from the anchor desk," Courtney wrote. "My oldest daughter is a junior in high school now and it's important to me to be able to be there for all the special moments she has coming up before she heads off to college."

She would fit right in at the Walmarts.

I talked to Ned Perme recently (super nice guy, btw) and he said that Barry Brandt and Todd Yakobian were very unhappy at KATV. Said both were looking at exit strategies and referenced how politically slanted and ‘woke’ the media has become. Also said he never thought he’d be so happy to retire.

Not sure where they would be able to go...pretty much all media is that way. Might find some solace farther south but I doubt it. The affiliate leaders have the local guys by the balls

I happened to see Ned Perme several years ago at an airport in Cincinnati. Apparently we both needed to take a leak while waiting on a plane. Never said a word to him, but he acted weird, and didn’t wash his hands. So don’t shake hands with him.

I talked with Darby for 15 minutes and he was very passionate about the weather. He said he always wanted to be the weather guy when he was a kid. I guess the meteorologists are exempt from getting into reporting the woke news.

Scott Inman is one of the greatest anchor's ever on KATV. Paul Eels, Inman, Ned playing the piano at Christmas with his spray on tan. That's good TV.

I remember when Inman said his goodbye's on air. Hit you right in the feels.

Inman should have been the voice of the Hogs. Chuck can pound sand.

I guess Inman didn't kiss up like Chuck did.

Everyone at the station was pissed when Barry and Chris May were suspended last year for wearing the “Afro” wigs when celebrating a return to 70s (70 degree temps.)

News media is so corrupted, even at local levels where you think people would have some sense... But they don't. They're all so terrified of offending one person, they destroy their entire station for it.

Inman interviewed me one time, dude was authentic and a huge Razorback fan himself. Miss him being on the air, and he should be the voice of the Hogs!

When Barry and Todd leave KATV that’s the beginning of the end for them.

I’ve met Todd before and he’s a real nice guy and I have always liked him as a met. You can tell he loves weather but really doesn’t want to be a KATV by watching him. Once all that stupidity went down over the wigs I think it was the beginning of the end for KATV being the leader in Arkansas.

Also prime Alyson Courtney was a smoke show. How Wes Moore stumbled into that i'll never know but dude should write a book titled "How I Did it."

I’m still rustled about that 15 years later.

Should have been Inman instead of Chuck for many reasons. Now Chuck doesn’t even live in the state.

They don't realize they are actually offending the large majority of their viewers. Actually, it's not the local anchors so much as the people above that call the shots.

Chuck is good at baseball as it was slow enough for him to keep up. The other two, he struggles and his voice is just annoying, puts you in a bad mood.

Bud Campbell and Paul had more of a classical broadcaster voice. Professional and made the games more fun to listen to when radio was still used back in the day.

It’s so interesting how different generations perceive Chuck. I’m in my 20s and all of my friends and I have no problem with Chuck at all. It’s who we’ve grown up listening to. Granted, we never would’ve heard Eels and none of us knew Chuck in any capacity before being the voice of the Razorbacks.

I just find it really interesting. At least with folks I talk to, people find Zimmerman much more annoying than Chuck on basketball broadcasts.
