We can win with Milroe but it's going to real frustrating expecting him to read and react correctly to elite defenses. That's not his thing.

We're not going after him for his statline, we're pointing out the statline (see: WKU) doesn't reflect his actual weakness on tape

You can't rely on throwing only deep balls and eschewing the short and mid range game. You just can't. And last night showed the exact blueprint to beat us that multiple teams have shown. You want to win a title? We need to do something about that weakness or we'll just run into a Michigan game all over again.

We have a very clear ceiling right now. Either we're fine with that or we're not, but if we're not then why on earth do we keep handwaving real issues and refusing to acknowledge them?

With all the pressure USF was applying, would have liked to see more screens called or jet sweeps

Think I saw one screen the entire game.

OC needs to be a little more creative

DeBoer and Sheridan need to simplify things not keep putting more on his plate.
Sadly, I think they already have. Milroe is his own checkdown now, and he’s still a bit slow processing whether he should pull and go or dump off.

Looks like he’s max reading two options, then he breaks down. What he does then is a mystery. He’ll either back up 30 yards and take a sack, or miss a run lane and throw it away, or run into a clogged gap.

He’s a hell of a player, but the game seems a bit fast for him. I wonder if he’s even checking safeties before the snap.

Some of the calls by the officials were ridiculous on Saturday. The so-called holding call on Milroe's 80 something yard run was a suspiciously very late call. The non-calls like the db holding on to Ryan Williams jerseys a few times were clearly PI. Even Stevie Wonder could see it. On the first USF drive USF's QB was running down the sideline. He was still inbounds when Domani Jackson pushed him out of bounds. It looked more like a tag in flag football. No way in hell was that a personal foul.

First 2 games Bama 109 Opponents 16.

For those that are X and O guys help me out. It seemed on possession 3rd down we had a lot of go routes vertical and no option for Milroe on a short route. He was holding on to the ball too long waiting on someone to get open and then took a sack. Why did our OC not do something about this until late. Then late we hit number 2 on a short route and he broke it for the long TD.

You boys should watch the Sky Cam view some time and see what Milroe sees. They do need some underneath options for him everyone go long doesnt work when he doesnt have time.

He does try to do too much sometimes and should just throw it away, and did do that a few times. But that crew...Gus Malzahn would have loved them they let the DB's grab and get away with murder, but not our OL.

Yea I thought they could use more bunch formations and throws to the flats to get guys open quicker and help out Milroe and the OL….. maybe they are saving some stuff for later in the season but it sure was frustrating seeing so many go routes and deep crossing patterns on so many plays where we got an aerial view

When the offense isn't turning it over or committing penalties they've just about scored a TD every drive and scored quickly.

Drives this year with the 1st team:
3 and out (fumble on the play)
2 plays, 18 yards and a TD
3 plays, 26 yards and a TD
4 plays, 81 yards and a TD
3 plays ending with a fumble
2 plays, 80 yards and a TD
2 plays 96 yards and a TD
2 plays, 55 yards and a TD
3 and out (with a penalty)
9 plays, 61 yards and a TD
3 and out (1st drive of USF)
10 plays, 65 yards and a TD
3 and out (with a penalty)
5 plays and a punt (with a penalty)
11 plays, 75 yards and a TD
3 and out (with a penalty)
3 and out (no penalty)
2 plays ending with a fumble
3 and out
3 and out
11 plays, 51 yards ending with a fumble at the goal line
4 plays, 34 yards and a TD (this is where Elijah Pritchett came in)
3 plays, 75 yards and a TD
2 plays 60 yards and a TD
1 play, 29 yards, and a TD

So we've had 3 3 and outs where there wasn't a penalty/fumble. Every other drive was a TD or a turnover.

Overall, when there's no penalty or turnover Bama is averaging 11.1 yards per play.

Slants....... freaking slants........I'd love to see slants especially against aggressive defenses.

Sheridan is gonna have come up with something because everyone and their brother is going to try and do the exact same thing. I guarantee it.

What are your Early thoughts on the DeBoer offense and Sheridan

DeBoer's O is VERY QB centric by design. The QB needs to be able to read and adjust pre-snap then read and adjust again post snap.

The WR need to be able to read and adjust their routes and be on the same page with the QB in what those adjustments are.

We have not seen much of any of that thus far. Are our players capable of making those reads and adjustments at this point? WIll it develop as the season goes along? Or will that have to wait until another year down the road?

As for Sheridan, his lack of experience calling a game showed up big time on Saturday against USF. He had a game plan. He stuck to the game plan and did not seem to be able to adjust that plan on the fly. Game plans are great but when the snot starts flying, the game plan becomes little more than a jump-off place for the adjustments to take over.

Blake Sims beat Mizzou in the SEC championship game. Jalen Milroe was MVP against the best team in the country.

"Durrrr, with Milroe the best Bama can do is beat the #1 team in the country, durrr"

That's how you sound.

The ceiling for Bama last year was a national championship. The ceiling this year is the same.

Campbell pushed him out. The flag was for holding by Domani Jackson down the field. The television crew did a poor job of explaining that.

Too early to tell. I don't have a problem with what he's done so far. The coaching staff is still figuring out what works best.

While everyone is lighting themselves on fire over Milroe, noone has talked about Parker Brailsford. I've seen analysts point out multiple incorrect shifts he called that led to negative plays. He missed (20?) practices during spring, has a new OC, new OL coach, new teammates, etc. He's still playing catch-up & so will Proctor when he comes back.

Man, if we could just get our OL all out there & operating on the same page, Nick Sheridan could have one of the most explosive offenses in football.
