See here's the thing if we can't afford to outbid Duke for Coward or pay Reid enough to keep him then what makes anyone think we can afford Watkins who is even more sought after?

Who is Watkins?
Edit - Never mind. Jamir Watkins from FSU. A high volume scorer and good all-around player. Not a big fan of the shooting percentages, but I'd guess it would go up in our system a bit.

From what I've seen, Reid didn't have much to do with money. Had a lot to do with parents trying to dictate who we recruited (they didn't want us going after Rylan for instance).
Coward may have a little to do with money, but we allegedly have like 3 million left to spend. It's also not like BYU is the other option. Duke might be the biggest blue blood program in the country and has a really good coach as well. As much as I believe in our system and our coaching staff to develop, Coward will have more exposure at Duke. There are more reasons than just money to go to Duke

I think his family overvalued him after a subpar year. Plus if there’s a rep for not being able to play through injuries then the more prestigious folks aren’t coming calling.

Best case scenario now is to get Philon to return and add Rylan and a front court body for depth. I think that’s still a competitive roster, albeit a step back from last year.

But Duke also has way more money to throw at recruits than us. They're probably top 3 in basketball NIL.

It will all come down to how he does in workouts. It’s a decision that’s over a month away. We have the spots and don’t seem to be on much else at the moment. Guess we would just go with Aden as primary pg if he stays in the draft.

Apparently that's what our staff was told, but that stuff changes all the time. Hoping for the best, but not overly optimistic that he sticks to that.
