I need a win. I haven’t seen Bama win in person in a long time. My last 3 bball games were OU x2 and Creighton last year. Couple that with going to OU last month for the football game… I’m wondering if I’m the problem.

Kent State is a good basketball team that likes to slow the game way down. Around 40 in Torvik in EFGD and rebounding. They played Auburn pretty tight on the road until they put them away late. Cut the lead to 4 with 15 mins to go and again down to 10 with under 8 mins to go. If we aren't connecting on shots this could be a very frustrating game.

Torvik Defensive Efficiencies Against Quality Opponents

Top 100
2025 Alabama: 67th
2024 Alabama: 162nd

Top 50
2025 Alabama: 68th
2024 Alabama: 200th

Away and Neutral Court
2025 Alabama: 79th
2024 Alabama:188th

We are significantly more well rounded this year and much better equipped to avoid the road arse-beatings and road shootout wins from last year. However, we’re not “Built For March” yet. The guard play isn’t quite clicking and I couldn’t tell you why

Pringle having a big night against Clemson. Just like the Elite 8 game. Will probably have a nice year for USC

Broome for Auburn hurt his shoulder and is out for the rest of the game. I wonder how serious it really is?

I think it's best if he just sat the rest of the season so he's fresh and healthy for the draft combine.

Interesting tidbit - UND lost their last home game on Sunday to one of Bama's final four assistants, Austin Claunch (UTSA).

Planning to go to the game on Sunday. First game at Coleman for me. What is a good section to sit in? And, where is parking for bball games?

Time to trim the rotation down.

Starters:
- Philon (primary ball handler)
- Sears (secondary ball handler)
- Youngblood
- Nelson
- Cliff

Bench:
- Mallette (first off the bench with Reid, spelling Cliff and a guard)
- Reid (see above)
- Holloway (third off the bench, spelling a guard)
- Dioubate

Agreed 100%. If and when Jarin shows he’s back to being able to contribute, reinsert him into good minutes but for now he needs to be an end of rotation guy for blowouts and foul trouble.

I'd probably let Mallette start over Youngblood right now. He's playing better and quicker. And without Jarin or Sherrell in the rotation, you're going to have to hope Cliff and Grant can stay out of foul trouble or use a smaller line up.

Right now, If I needed to put the most effective 5 on the court to push tempo, keep the defense spread and score, I'm going with:

Philon-1
Sears-2
Mallette-3
Mo/Reid-4
Nelson-5

When Oats runs Sears at 1, Jarin at 3, Nelson at 4 and Cliff at 5, the offense gets slower and stagnant. Cliff has been underwhelming on defense and is limited offensively. He can't pull defenders away from the basket and it clogs the lane.

Of course things change based on match ups.

It took just two games and sparse minutes for Mallette to become a fan favorite. Why was Oats redshirting him? Was he saving him for a post Sears major role?

There are moments Sears is almost unplayable. He's getting better, but he is still struggling to get space from the longer quicker defenders teams are consistently putting on him.

Philon needs to run point and Sears be at the 2. The offense works so much better with Philon on the floor. Reid is our best defender, he needs to be the 3 or 4, because while Stevenson has actually been decent on defense, he's just a black hole for the most part on offense. MoD is even more of a offensive liability than Stevenson

Holloway is so frustrating because you can see the potential, he just makes infuriatingly idiotic decisions 50% of the time.

I'd run

Philon
Sears
Mallette/Youngblood
Reid/MoD
Nelson

Because he plays the same position as Wrightsell and Youngblood and didn't get as much practice time as Youngblood this summer because of injury, so he was the 3rd option at a position that wasn't going to go more than 2 deep with significant minutes.

He would have been a key cog in next year's squad and provided some continuity but sacrificed that to play a reduced role in this year's squad. And he HUSTLES every single play.

More on Mallette - he started his season @UNC, vs. Creighton, and at ND, which isn't an easy stretch. Yet here are his stats per 40 minutes:
- 17.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 3.3 steals, 0.0 turnovers, on 60% shooting (50% from deep)

DAWG

I think that was the big motivation behind redshirting him. Before burning his redshirt I noticed him being involved in every huddle, talking to coaches, talking to teammates, and staying mentally checked in generally. He just comes across like a really good teammate.

Not only that, but his contributions don’t necessarily show up on the stat sheet. He was the only defender last night that was able to consistently deny Eaglestaff the ball.

I can definitely see why he earned the 95 at Pepperdine

The play last night where he took fast break and the lenght of the court and then proceeded to basically hand the ball to the other team under the goal was cringe. I feel like that happens a lot with him - he is either too out of control or does not know how to finish on a fast break and ends up turning the ball over.
