Can’t understate what a loss this is. Especially defensively. How many guards had to pull up for tough mid range shots last year because of Chuck’s presence? Especially with smaller guards like Q and Sears it’s devastating not having that rim protection on the back end

This makes Jaren Stevenson a must have. He is 6’10 so he could play the 5 and slide to the 4 for Pringle.

If we don’t get him then Oats will just be looking for warm bodies inside and we won’t have any quality there.

Banking on a reclassifying UNC legacy 5* recruit to sign with us at all, much less immediately be able to play major front court minutes is not where you want to be in late May.

I don't think he comes here honestly. I'm a wait and let everything play out first.

I went from being excited about next year to just hoping for a tournament berth. The roster as it currently stands is shaky at best.

Things will really be interesting if Q decides to not return to college ball which is very possible.

If JQ doesn't come back we will probably be reunited with our old friends the bubble and the NIT.

Rumor is this caught Oats off guard. Cant say I blame him if it did, Nobody expected Bediako to stay in the draft

Yeah, I sure as hell didn't think there was any chance of him staying in. This is a very surprising decision from where i'm sitting. Chuck is an even bigger loss than Clowney imo. We've lost three assistants and three starters and we are still waiting on word from JQ (and Sears but he has to be coming back).

If the season started tonight, who are we starting at the 4/5... one of Walter/Dioubate and Pringle? We'll grab another big or two before the season starts, but we aren't going to be able to get a defensive anchor like Chuck.

Guys like Griffin and Cosby need to be ready to be consistent contributors right out of the gate. Hopefully Estrada and Wrightsell can make a seamless transition to the step up in competition and at least two of the three 2023 guys are ready.

Need the staff to find two bigs and hope they hit on at least one of them. Right now looks like this team will probably take a big step back on defense and look more like the team from two years ago.

There will be folks dropping out of the draft and transferring I'm sure

Forgive me if I'm misstating, but aren't we in the period where no one else can enter the portal except grad transfers?

In other words, we can only take a grad transfer or someone who is already in the portal at this point?

Yes!

There's still players in the portal who still have a decision too make.

Highly doubt that.

The guards are extremely skilled so they can push us if need be but hopefully Pringle can develop his game more because he's a LOAD to handle.

This is why a lot of guys declare for the draft and enter the portal simultaneously.

Twitter chatter

If Alabama steps back into the mix, Kante might entertain.. crazy he could have more potential to play more minutes right away at Bama rather than Pitt

Part of the reason Alabama moved on from Papa Kante after he left Michigan was because they were confident Bediako was coming back. Good thing this happened after he picked Pitt.

Big hit no doubt. Maybe late second round but probably G-League. How much do they pay?

If we don't step up our NIL, the program will be poor and Oats will be gone.

are you in the know about our NIL money in the BB program? If not then how can you say Bama needs to step up

I think I'm going to wait to see how the roster shakes out before overreacting for the upcoming season. Definitely a shock to wake up to this morning but let's see what Oats and the new staff can do before the end of portal season.

guy can barely stay on the court for 20 minutes but is going to play in the NBA? interesting.

That one stings.

Showed out against Tshiebwe and certainly had his moments, but I don't think he was consistent enough to warrant it (yet).

Would've done himself a favor with one more year, IMO.

I guess he must've gotten some pretty good feedback? Who knows.

You do realize that Coach Oats teams are usually ran with a ton of guards?

He'll find a way. I believe in the best COACH in the SEC!

I hope they count us out already.

I think Nick Perkins was the only post player he had at Buffalo. If Nate Oats is worried then I'm worried.

But I don't think he's worried!!

Out of the top 15 or so players in the portal right now looks like 10 or so of them are guys that would play the 4/5. Nate needs to go get a couple of them.
