SEC title
Yeah. That's what I meant. SEC title. Although I wouldn't be shocked if Cal won another touney. He got close at UMASS and Memphis. There's no reason why he can't get a Marcus Camby or Derrick Rose to come to Fayetteville.
I think dude has something to prove now. He could've easily waited for another big paycheck at another school if he just wanted to cash more checks. Arky isn't the place a HOF coach goes to fade away. His teams are going to be super talented. Lots of talent always has a punchers chance at a deep run in the tourney.
Look at Painter at Purdue. Dude isn't a great coach, but he has a monster in the middle. Edey is the only reason Purdue is playing for a title.
My point is Cal will get talent, and talent will always give Cal a chance to win big at Arky.

Think cal has better chance at arky with a fresh start.

Apparently Calipari may be trying to come back to Kentucky according to TOS. Could explain why there is really nothing official out there……
There's a lot of chatter out there that maybe Calipari is trying to find a way to stay. It sounds insane I know, but that is making its way around the UK world.
I have nothing from the school but this is picking up steam and is some messaging coming from Calipari related sources. IT would explain why we have heard nothing and the public appearance today with no comment. Stay tuned...
UPDATE: Three sources, none of which are with UK to be fair, now all have told me that Calipari still hasnt resigned or said he is leaving Kentucky. Unbelievable

Think some crazy Kentucky person might shoot an RPG at Cal's front door if he does this.

He couldn't do it without UK's blessing though, right?

Somehow Cal is going to leverage this situation for more money from boosters and a fan base that wants him out haha

Cal pulling a George Costanza is top tier comedy

Arkansas getting Dana Altman’d a 2nd time is admittedly funny

If this Arkansas coaching search turns into a (bigger) circus and they end up circling back to Will Wade despite everyone knowing he was like their 46th choice the collective melt from Arkansas and LSU fans will be pretty funny.

Arkansas should hire Pitino. If their fans thought Petrino laying his bike down riding with his side bitch was bad wait til Pitino starts aborting Applebees waitress babies.

I think Calipari's payout NEXT year is 20 mill. It drops from around 30 currently to 20 next year.
He is bringing in a great recruiting class. Maybe giving up 20 million next year doesn't really add up, assuming Kentucky sticks with the plan and gives him a year.
That might be the hold up.

Could be but I can’t ever remember a coach doubling back to a place that doesn’t want him. Going back at all is rare. Like Billy Donovan changed his mind on the Magic but that was back to the loving arms of the Gators.
Cal is going back to sleep on the couch and have hot grits thrown at him. Which I’ve done for less than 30 mil

If Cal going to Arky is a Win for both schools, him going back to UK, fricks both of them.
LoL. Comedy Gold.

College basketball rankings: Alabama, Iowa State, Duke lead way-too-early Top 25 for 2024-25 season (Sporting News)
1. Alabama
2024 season: 25-11 NCAA Final Four
Overview: Think of it this way: They’ve got got six months to learn to play defense! OK, so maybe that’s not the kindest way to introduce our WTE No.1 team for 2024-25. It is necessary to make it clear the Crimson Tide’s present level of efficacy at the defensive end will not be enough to support a championship run. But meager D is not endemic to Alabama basketball. Last year’s team, which earned a No. 1 seed, featured the No. 3 defense in college basketball. The current group is not as well constructed to defend, but it’s hard to imagine the coaching staff not attempting to improve this aspect of the team in the transfer portal.
Offensively, if they get the right group back, they could become one of the top offenses in recent college history.

This is my feeling: keep the right guys after transfer portal szn, get help in the right places through HS recruiting and transfer portal, and this is without a doubt the favorite to contend for the title.

What are they basing the #1 rating on?
I mean the entire core outside of Griffen Stevenson are potentially gone.
Are they assuming Sears/Wrightsell/Nelson are back?
I’m not saying the walls are caving in but I’m not seeing preseason #1 either.

It’s a “way too early” top 25 for a reason. This time last year we would’ve assumed Bediako, JQ, Burnett and probably Bradley would be back.
This year we could lose a ton of players or we could retain everyone but Estrada. The recruitment numbers and us hitting the portal suggest the truth somewhere in the middle. But if we can add some of the rumored transfer guys and the class we have and retain a few key pieces then that makes for a fun way too early ranking.
