Are they just adding any deaths to the patients actual residing county even though they died in Jefferson?
Yes, I think so.

My neighbor just called to warn me about the lines outside the grocery stores this morning here. He went to Publix and was told the police were there to warn the manager if he let more than 25 in at a time he would be arrested. Wonderful!

I’m not going to pretend to know why these folks are on the subway, but there isn’t a good reason to be packed anywhere like this.
For a couple of weeks, subways were very empty. However, recently MTA claimed they were losing too much money operating them and slashed service.
That's made the trains with essential workers very crowded.
(MTA, which runs subways, operates as a private corporation so they don't simply follow orders without congressional acts.)

Drive up to Prattville or Wetumpka. You'll be safer even without the 'rona.

Yes. The totals for both positive tests and deaths are based on the patient's county of residence.

One of the three large supermarkets near me are doing lines outside to limit people in the store. It's actually the one I'm choosing to go to since I like waiting in line outside for 20 minutes and then the store being empty a lot more than walking right into the ones that are crowded inside.

We probably will.
A few weeks of this and (not likely in my neighborhood) there will be riots.

Target in Prattville was business as usual this morning according to a buddy of mine.

Jefferson County does have a world class hospital. Without UAB, Alabama would be in serious trouble.

Truth be told, how many states have a bunch of world class hospitals?

1394 cases. Down to only 3 counties with no cases.
124 new cases so far today.

Yes, that Pittsburgh study looks promising since the vaccine for this will likely come from work on previous coronavirus vaccines.
This link is a simplified version of the paper.
It's too bad so much funding were stripped from these studies as soon as SARS/H1N1 etc were out of the news cycle while scientists were adamant that continuing the research would provide a huge heard start on the next one.

Promising but still a good distance away from being a reality even being fast tracked.

If someone told me at Christmastime that within three months the government would have shut down half the industry in the US and people would be lining up and waiting to buy food with their government stipend, I definitely would've laughed in their face.

To boot, thousands of MTA workers are infected or out with suspicion of being infected (and, probably, a lot of workers are just afraid and getting out to protect themselves - justifiably so), so the MTA is really understaffed right now and that's requiring service reductions.
At any rate, you can bet the vast majority of the people in that picture wouldn't be there if they didn't have to be.
