Guys, remember what Bryne said:
Rumors are rumors and don't believe it until Byrne names his man.

So you are telling me it is definitely Kirby.

I’m a little worried this ends up like the coordinator hired. We all as fans reach for the stars and slowly accept we aren’t getting the guys we want; and then we are surprised with how underwhelming the hire is.

Kirby Smart is really the only name mentioned that would be reaching for the stars. Everyone else on the supposed list seems like an entirely level-headed suggestion.

At least the next guy won't have to take over right after Saban won another NC. We're 3 years removed from our last natty. People say Bama fans have unrealistic expectations following the Saban Dynasty. Maybe people in their 20s don't know any different, but the rest of us remember how bad it can be. No one seriously expects the next guy to win 6 NCs or anything close to it. We do want another, but for me the yearly expectation would be to make the 12 team playoff. That's not unreasonable for a program of Bama's stature and resources. Then you hope you get a team that gets hot at the right time and you make a NC run. I know that sounds like NCAA basketball, but that's pretty much what it's going to be going forward.

I know he’s not coming but I would love Kirby to come back. Dude is a Saban clone if there ever was one.

Norvell should not be considered an acceptable hire.
Posted on 1/11/24 at 5:48 pm to CrimsonTider98
Why not? There’s not many capable candidates. Norvell isn’t a home run, but he would be fine.

I have a strange gut feeling that the ball is in Sarks court and he’s mulling it over
So Sark is currently at the 5.6 Million, probably 6M after some incentives of making the CFP Semis.
How much would Bama throw his way?
Crazy to think that Kiffin (8.75M) gets paid that much more than Sark.

I'd be disappointed in any of these hires...
Jim Harbaugh, Mike Norvell, and Butch Jones.
