I agree with this but sustained stock market contractions indicate capital pulling out of the economy because of uncertainty. This will inevitably hit Main Street because the capital flow from the elites is what keeps the economy functioning.

I can agree with you on a lot of that too. But there’s no putting the hay back in that barn. The market is the de facto retirement system for us now and there won’t be social security by the time it comes time for you and I to use it.
But I’m not even arguing that point. Market is down AND we’re head for recession according to most(which does reflect the health of the economy)
Again I’m only looking at it from the perspective of how it affects the cfb recruiting arms race. Anything else is all poliboard stuff.

Your point in that respect is completely correct. When uncertainty comes, wealthy pull back their money out of the market and broader economy. I think some of the rapid growth in NIL contracts has to do with the boom market since ~2023.

We arent winning anything at this point. To win a trade war against china will be many years and max pain. We created this situation with china (and many other countries) over many years and i hope people can last long enough to fix it, but im afraid not.

Fix what? A trade deficit?

heres the thing, the stock market doesn't accurately reflect the health of our economy. In fact, it's one of the biggest problems, imo. Companies are chasing eternal quarterly growth. This has guttered wages and product quality. The damage is immeasurable, imo.

Stock market is slowly bleeding this country dry
This is very true. Globalism also has been crushing. NAFTA absolutely obliterated Sylacauga. all so that Walmart could sell us a cheaper T-shirt from Mexico.
Once thriving small and rural towns all over are dumping grounds for drunks and drug addicts. Some people want to farm. Others would like to work at the mill. They don’t want to, and can’t, “code”. In the past these folks raised families and some of there kids went on to college and bettered themselves. But, at least the communities were thriving.
An unemployed individual doesn’t care about a cheap carrier air condition from Mexico that he can’t afford. Americans need jobs.

The unemployment rate in Sylacauga is under 4%.

Damn. They must’ve learned to code.

I guess you forgot the insane inflation that started in 2022 under the previous regime.
Find us any commodity that was not going up in price through the end of 2020/mid January 2021. Lagging indicators lag, but that inflation was set in stone by actions taken during 2020.

Granted in some of what I was saying I wasn’t referring to Sylacauga, but more to areas in Coosa county, which benefited greatly from the mills. I did not make that clear.
Still, IMO too much of the occupational tax base is going to other counties and municipalities to which many residents drive for work. The community does benefit in some from being a bedroom community for Shelby County.
I also know that for a good while disability recipients were pretty high in Slytown.

Months, not years. China's economy is a house of cards.

Sorry bamatide07. I have just one upvote to give you sir.

You want to give him multiple upvotes for not understanding how the economy works? I guess you could make an alter to do it but that’d be weird.
