Kirk Herbstreit was asked if Bateman would be the starter.

It's funny the guys comment below. If you ask some people hurts and Cornwall have more zip than Barnett. Doesn't really matter we just need scrimmage roll on Saturday.

I've always wondered if Kiffin and Saban have different ideas of who should start.

I love Herby, but he really doesn't know that much about college football. And what he does know, he dumbs down and dodges legit takes. His only goal is to look good, and entertain by hitting on the main, warn out topics of the CFB year.

If we see Jalen getting playing time early in the Season then I think there's a good chance that he starts at some point.

As always,I'll just sit back and enjoy.

Any news from practice leaked out? I think Barnett might be our best chance at a competent passing game.

Could be similar to the situation Russell Wilson was in his rookie year when Flynn was supposed to be the starter. Guy won them in over early on and got the start. Everything I've heard about Hurts is that his mentality mirrors Julio and Amari. Not saying he'll be the starter this year, but he has a bright future here.

Yeah man. Its scary.

I realized how best to describe Hurts after re-watching his film a couple times.

Its like Cam Newton and Russell Wilson got drunk on deer antler spray, and had a threesome with an alien which obviously gave birth to their freak offspring.

He runs EXACTLY like Russel Wilson. Never looks like he's running out of control or without purpose. Glides, and is patient as all hell. He was the same way in the pocket during his A Day snaps.

I can't wait for him to be good enough to start

That first throw shows he has an absolute cannon for an arm.

Hurst Sr. Year Film PowHound posted earlier in thread

Look at the throw he makes at 7:19 into the film.

He throws a jump pass 42 yards into a basket while having pressure in his face. That's an impressive throw against air, much less live competition.

I have been vocal about not handing this offense over to a true freshman. With that said, maybe he is indeed the missing piece. My biggest concern has been the mental part. Will the guys rally behind a young one as their leader? He is starting to grow on me. Maybe he just is really that special. Is the future now? The scrimmage today will tell us a lot.

I think it could add an exciting element if we saw Hurts out there a series each half. And it gives opponents' defenses one more package to have to spend valuable practice time gameplanning for.

There's a growing body of people who think he's the man from day 1. Today will go a long way toward answering that question.

Anybody heard anything yet? I hear that Hurts had a couple of amazing touchdowns.
