I would love to see him here. Not sure how he and CNS would mesh, but the meltdown from LSU would be phenomenal.
Are there any rumors that he would even be interested?

Alabama CB coach Karl Scott expected to leave for NFL position (BOL)
quote:
First, some notes on Scott to Minnesota. He interviewed for the defensive backs coach opening on Thursday, was offered the job on Friday and accepted it today. With another assistant coach off the board, here are some names we're hearing for Alabama's cornerbacks coach vacancy.
Aazaar Abdul-Rahim -- Boston College DB coach/defensive pass game coordinator
Derrick Ansley -- Los Angeles Chargers defensive backs coach
Doug Belk -- Houston defensive coordinator/safeties coach
Terrell Buckley -- Ole Miss cornerbacks coach
Jason Jones -- Indiana safeties coach
Jules Motinar -- Florida cornerbacks coach
Sam Petitto -- Alabama director of personnel operations
Deshea Townsend -- Chicago Bears secondary coach
Marcus Woodson -- Florida State DB coach/defensive passing game coordinator
It's entirely possible the current staff is shifted around and another position is addressed with the hire, but these are the initial names worth mentioning.

Move Golding to DB coach, bring in Glenn Schumann as associate DC/ILB coach and bump his salary to $850,000.
That would be awesome. But if we can't get him, how about making a run at Bo Davis? Just move Golding to CB, move Roach to ILB, and let Bo coach DL.
I'm guessing Saban has known Scott was considering leaving for a little while now, and probably already has his replacement lined up. It'll be interesting to see what direction he goes seeing as how he's not really held down to one position that he could fill the hire with.

Some Bama fans going to be asking to bring back Coach Bo on their death beds . He has a strange hold on part of the fan base.
Would love to get him back to Tuscaloosa.
This man must have a moving company on retainer . It feel like he has had 15 jobs and keeps ending up as your friendly neighborhood DB coach.

I think Ansley may prefer the NFL, after he left Tennessee he went straight back to the pros

Possibly but it could have just been timing. How many desirable college defensive coordinator or DB Coach positions were available where he and the school would have had mutual interest in late January?
Ansley would be interesting as he would be the next best thing to Pruitt considering he was the defensive playcaller at UT the last 2 years. He could be another back up as associate Head coach or Co-defensive coordinator so there is a line of succession whenever Golding moves on. Of course knowing Ansley he will be gone in 2 years regardless .
I'm not saying he is coming or preferred but I could see how he fits into the puzzle in Tuscaloosa.

Doug Belk is in his third season at Houston overall and was promoted to defensive coordinator on Jan. 19, 2021.
• He was promoted associate head coach in January 2020. Belk hired as the Co-Defensive Coordinator and Safeties coach at Houston on Jan. 11, 2019 after two seasons as cornerbacks coach at West Virginia.
• The 2018 season saw Belk's cornerbacks play a pivotal role in West Virginia ranking second in the Big 12 and No. 20 nationally with 15 interceptions. Cornerback Keith Washington Jr. tied for fifth in the Big 12 with three interceptions on the year.
• In Big 12 play, WVU hauled in 12 interceptions, ranking No. 1 in the conference
• The 2017 defense ranked No. 16 nationally in most defensive three-and-outs per game and No. 24 in best third-down defense.
• Prior to his time at West Virginia, Belk served as the defensive graduate assistant coach at Alabama for two years, working with the defensive backs. He worked directly with Head Coach Nick Saban and defensive coordinators Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruitt, assisting with all aspects of the defensive secondary as well as with special teams.
• During his tenure at Alabama, the Crimson Tide was 40-4, earning three College Football Playoff appearances, winning the 2015 National Championship, finishing as national runner-up in 2016 and winning three Southeastern Conference titles (2014-16).
• The 2016 defense was No. 1 nationally in scoring defense and No. 2 in total defense. The unit also was No. 9 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC in pass efficiency defense, No. 14 in interceptions and No. 24 in passing yards allowed. Belk helped develop cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, who earned consensus All-American honors, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who earned All-America First-Team honors and safety Eddie Jackson, who was an All-SEC First-Team member.
• The 2015 defense was No. 3 nationally in scoring defense and total defense, No. 10 in interceptions and No. 30 in passing yards allowed. Jackson earned All-America honors, while Fitzpatrick and Humphrey were named to freshman All-American teams. Cornerback Cyrus Jones was drafted in the second round by the New York Giants.

Congrats to coach Scott. Thank gold Alabama just inked that class though. we have basically just lost every recruiter from the last few years. Obviously they will still sign a top 5 class but kinda sucks they’re basically starting from scratch on relationships. Should be interesting to see who replaces him though
Eta we’ve basically lost every elite recruiter from the past couple of years
Eta 2 the good news is teams like auburn, Tennessee, and LSU have also replaced a lot, so that will help as well. I can see Alabama cleaning up instate this year. Places like Texas and Florida will be more interesting

If I was friends with this man my questions would include which number child is Andrew (he has to be the oldest or youngest right?) and the origins of the names Jarah and Jathan .

I think he's just being talked about, but hasn't been hired yet...unless Surge knows something that I don't.
