He shanked a 41 yarder last night
But he does overall look pretty good and shanking a kick in an exhibition game with an unfamiliar holder/long snapper isn't that crazy.
Part of the problem all incoming kickers to bama face is that the first mistake they make the fanbase collectively gives up on them. Hopefully Reichard with banks coaching will turn into a Groza quality kicker like some of his Texas A&M kickers.

Heck there was a poster on UGA board talking about Lia acting as if they could possibly get him with a day to go to ESD. ?

You had to know this would get started as soon as Fields transfered.

You have to give up any and all expectation of having a good kicker. When you've accepted every kick as inevitably being missed, it becomes much more bearable.

I haven’t seen that anywhere, but I’m sure you’re right. Interesting to me Gorney said y’all could land Wright on Wednesday. Is that actually a possibility? I thought the only team he’d sign with early would be Tennessee.

What's strange is Bulovas ended up being fairly good on field goals but missed more PATs than the rest of the conference combined.

I actually think Bulovas will be fine. He was relatively consistent on field goals and was excellent on kickoffs. He was 8/9 on FGs from Arkansas on and his only miss was from 50+.

The PAT issue was obviously a lot him, but it was also a lot the snap/holds. The snaps on XPs were AWFUL. And then it clearly became a confidence thing.

I adapted this philosophy a few years back, and I have not regretted it. I also feel like our team adapted it also, knowing we was missing that game winner in the natty last year and was ready for OT before the kick.

It’s all part of Sabans genius plan.

Long snapper was weird this past season because the LS was highly regarded, have to wonder if Banks came in and started to change things and that just got in the heads of a few players. Special teams is such a weird mental/confidence beast compared to other positions.

Personally, I was a competent long snapper until my coaches tried to refine my technique and it got in my head and I couldn't keep the ball down for crap on XP and was throwing balls in the dirt on punts.

Yep - and we go for it on 4th and less than 5 between the 50 and 25 a LOT more than we used to it feels like, unless Saban just wants to get the kid some work.

We offered Tua's brother right? I thought I heard somewhere he "might" be better than Tua. Anyone else hearing that?

Just fans being fans. Maybe Saint and Surge have heard something but I haven’t seen Wright really projected to Bama in a long time

Honestly the math supports going for it anyway, so in a way our kicker situation forced Saban to be more aggressive and in the process it has led to better decision making about 4th downs in no mans land.

I think we like Neal better but Wright isn’t sliced cheese he would be a take if he wanted in I would guess. I thought he was UT bound but hell I don’t know

With thibs out, we theoretically afford to take Wright if he wanted in, but there are so many targets it's hard to keep track

I don't know if he is better, but he was named the nation's best high school back by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta.

If Trey picks UGA the result will be the same as it was when Bama had Kamara, Henry, Tenpenny, and the rest.

Nit enough carries and guys will leave.

No team has room for more than 2 star RBs.

Making The Case: Nakobe Dean

quote:

The Early Signing Period for 2019 is now. This week, the majority of the class of 2019 will sign letters of intent with a school. Most will take place Wednesday, including the prospect we will focus on today.

Experts from the Rivals.com network examine where 2019 No. 1 inside linebacker, five-star Nakobe Dean of Horn Lake (Miss.) might end up playing his college football. The candidates are Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

THE SITUATION

Dean is a student-athlete with over three dozen offers and over a 4.0 GPA. He is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2019 class due to his ability on the field, in the classroom and what type of impact he could make on the next level.

Linebackers with speed are so important in today’s college game. Dean is a linebacker who can run, cover, blitz and stay on the field all three downs. Schools have been fighting over him for many months.

His official visits started in the summer, with Alabama getting the first one. From there, Dean official visits to Auburn, Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M, all in the fall. Each school did multiple in-home visits with him the last few weeks, including a visit from the head coach of each respective school. With the public decision coming Wednesday,, we asked our team experts to state the case for their respective programs and let National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell issue a verdict.

THE CASE FOR ALABAMA

“Alabama has recruited Dean very hard for the last few years. First-year linebackers coach Pete Golding developed a strong relationship with Dean. Alabama has a pressing need for linebackers and the rich tradition at the position in Tuscaloosa helped make the Crimson Tide a finalist for the five-star. Dean has visited Alabama several times, but it looks more like the final decision will come down to Georgia and Ole Miss. Is it possible Dean pulls a surprise? Maybe, but the Bulldogs and Rebels appear in the best position to land the elite prospect on Wednesday.” — Andrew Bone, BamaInsider.com
