There is no way Akers split because he was jealous of Najee.

Akers played for your hometown so I get you wishing Bama could have held onto him, but thats the nature of recruiting. We miss on several players per cycle that pains me to see go elsewhere.

Big, fast, powerful backs are simply the best option for moving a football down a football field.

Derrick Henry, Bo Scarbrough, Hercshel Walker, Todd Gurley, Chubb, Eddie Lacy, Adrian Peterson, Lenardo furnat, Ron Dayne, Melvin Gordon, Jim Brown, Joe Mixon, etc., etc., ...

If youre as fast as a 200 pound back, but you weigh 230 it is football perfection.

Najee Harris absolutely will not be a bust under CNS.

Hell there are more than a few scouts out there that think Harris is the best back prospect since Adrian Peterson.

I think everyone must be forgetting the circus that was Reuben Fosters recruitment. It was a total shitshow for a solid year. Reuben has come light years as a young man, and a football player in this program.

Najee Harris will not be a bust. He's going to be a good one where ever he ends up at. I dont think there is any reason not to believe he is still coming to Bama.

If he doesn't come to Bama then he definitely handled it in an immature, shitty way, but I dont think he is going to go elsewhere.

Cam Akers decommitted due to the current roster of backs ALONG with the addition of Najee Harris. Wasn't just due to Najee, but the whole roster of backs that he would have to beat out for PT.

He wasn't scared, but he also knew he could go to OM, FSU, OSU or Tenn and have far less elite RB's to compete against. Again, not scared......but not dumb enough to reduce his competition. Had Najee decommitted earlier in the year, we would have pursued him MUCH more than the casual phone call we have been giving him.

Brother I know you don't want Harris to be a bust, but you just typed out 250 words trying to convince yourself that.

There are plenty of people who think Akers is a better RB than Harris who didn't attend Clinton High School, like 247 Sports.

So let's agree that we are back at zero then because if you remember me pimping Bell (which I don't recall seeing as he'd been on campus for 9 minutes) but don't remember me saying we needed to run behind a fullback (which you hit me for on this site later that night) then we are square.

Eh. Fullbacks are caveman football. I could get behind a solid Hback.

For the sake of transparency I am more concerned about him showing up to practice without his gawtdayum pads and shite ?

I mean maybe he is a total dumbfrick.

The good argument this year should be...

Which of our potential WR signees becomes the best college player? (I'm going to project Townsend in the secondary since it looks like he's practicing there right now)

Shavers
Jeudy
Ruggs
Devonta Smith

All this provided Hurts/Tua eventually become effective enough getting them the ball. Heck, we have Calvin Ridley, Ardarius Stewart, Dieter (who caught 94 passes last year), OJ Howard, among others and can't get them the ball this year.

I went to Hillcrest and I think Brian Robinson is better than Harris and Akers.

Sounds like a bunch of LSU fans melting up in here. Get a grip fellas. If Harris comes, he comes. If he doesn't, he doesn't. The Tide survives and thrives either way.

Seriously. The melt in here has been tremendous. It felt like I was reading LSURb...

Also another thing, Aker was always going to decommit. He wanted NO competition. He literally avoided every school that had their RB coming back next year or had a deep roster. He wanted to be the man the first day on campus and that was never going to happen at Alabama. He saw that and wanted to go elsewhere.

If this kid was from Houston or Georgia and not that specific area in Mississippi, I don't think there would be any argument.

I don't see how he would have survived here anyways. Would have probably transferred if he wasn't starting next year anyways. Doesn't come off as the patient type...

Like others have said, Akers was never coming here with Bo, Harris, Jacobs and BJ on the roster plus Robinson and Harris committed.

Now if Harris screws us at the very last second, that will certainly say something about his character and we'd have every right to rip him a new one. But unless that happens, I'm thinking he shows up and has a great career at Bama. He has all the intangibles to be a great. Our backfield in 2017 could be scary good, especially running behind what I think could be our best OL since 2012.

Only reason Harris won't be at Bama is competition. He will be a day 1 starter at Michigan whereas I can honestly see him red shirting next year with us.

To me, he sees the benefit of Bama, coach Burns, Coach Tosh staying. I think it's family in his hear saying you are a day one starter at Michigan

Well done on the girlfriend my friend - very nice.

Akers

I'd probably take him over Harris if I had the choice, usually don't like taller RBs, but Henry more or less dispelled my preconceptions on the subject. I also think Harris probably has a higher ceiling.

Having said all that, who knows what would have happened with Akers had we invested more in him than Harris. I don't know, but if Harris flips I think it probably costs us a great back not named Akers (e.g., maybe someone like Swift).

Hopefully Harris sticks, but he's not a huge immediate need - though he would likely be an upgrade.

I have no source, but I'm guessing mom wants Cal for location (I know she's said she'll move with Najee) and brother wants Michigan.

That's just how it seems based on what's been posted over the last month.

I hope he is true to his commitment. I think he could have a Henry like career at Bama if he comes.
Good luck to him where ever he decides though
