Keep in mind they only have ever had to have one start in the league to qualify. As of 1990, former Alabama QBs had thrown for more combined yardage in the NFL than any other program in college football history. I don't know if that still holds true in 2023, however.

Riley Smith (1936-1938)
Chuck DeShane (1945-1949)
Harry Gilmer (1948-1956)
Bart Starr (1956-1971)
Joe Namath (1965-1977)
Steve Sloan (1966-1967)
Ken Stabler (1970-1984)
Scott Hunter (1971-1979)
Richard Todd (1976-1986)
Jeff Rutledge (1979-1993)
Brodie Croyle (2006-2012)
Greg McElroy (2011-2013)
AJ McCarron (2014-2021)
Jalen Hurts (2020-Present)
Tua Tagovailoa (2020-Present)
Mac Jones (2021-Present)
Bryce Young (2023-Present)

I would have loved to see him with Smitty and Waddle.

I would have loved to see him with the 2012 or 2020 OLines.

I'd guess Tom Brady single handedly moved Michigan near the top of the list since then.

I think it’s still Purdue by a decent margin. Brees is second in yards to Brady of course but Purdue had quite a run of 20k+ type guys. I know I heard they were first when Brees set the record and it wasn’t that close.

If Tua, Mac, and Young stick, Alabama will shoot back up the list though. To the extent there is an “official” record for this stuff I’m guessing Hurts’ yards would be credited to Oklahoma, but I’m still going to count them because Hurts is a Bama man (and grad).

ETA:

Just looked and pro football reference credits Hurts stats to Bama as an alum.

Already Tua, Hurts, and Mac are 5th, 6th, and 7th for Bama all time in NFL passing yards. All three of them plus Young have a decent chance to pass Stabler (“only” 27,983 passing yards) and be 1-4 on the list. In today’s NFL most 8 year starters will pass that number if they are just league average.

The only quarterback in modern NFL history with 10 or more starts to never win a game.

Wow, 27 years between putting starting a quarterback in the NFL that started.
