From AU board:

Jeff Lee has a war room article up. He says Bama is now the front runner for Pegues.

Lee's War Room

- Auburn was the favorite since early on
- Alabama waiting to hear on Darnell Washington, but he is likely going elsewhere, and that gives Pegues the green light for Bama
- Auburn still working on him but has lost confidence, not looking good for Auburn

He definitely seems to be in play but very likely seems a bit strong. Would be huge, though.

Per two reliable well-connected guys.

Holy shite that War Room thread on the Bunker is absolutely hysterical. Those folks are funny as hell (and not in a LOL look how dumb they are way).

How likely is it that Pegues doesn't grow into a lineman? That is my concern with him. He could theoretically be maxed out at 18 years old but I wouldn't bet on it. He's going to have to really watch his conditioning to stay at TE.

Is Pegues being recruited as a tight end? If so, any chance he can slim down a bit if the 285 that he's listed at is accurate? I've also read that he could be a DL. Certainly, the versatility would be a great thing to have.

I remember all the ups and downs of Trey Sanders and Evan Neal earlier this year. I can't wait the see the range of emotions over the next 24-36 hours in here.

Jarrett tweet yesterday said he's signing in Feb. Bama recruiting him a lot behind the scenes.

Or there's potentially qualifying issues like grades.

That falls under not being able to sign.

All the talk about the dynasty dying, Coach Saban is done, and that Bama is basically not feared anymore, seems like it struck a cord with coach... We’re not going to sign all these players but this class sure as hell gonna end up being special. Love the way coach has attacked this early signing period!!

Saban as a recruiter has always been top notch. Two years ago he got caught with his pants down a little bit with how many kids signed early, combined with a flaky staff. They adjusted their recruiting the next year and he's posted a really good class last year and looks like he will do it again this year.

Now he needs to figure out the DC position.

Anyone currently committed to a school that doesn't sign this week should be taken off their commitment list.

They either don't have the green light to sign or they aren't fully committed to the school.

No green light to sign early -- Baker (grades), Burroughs (grades), Jones, George. Also, Clark might get a voluntary withdrawal replacement scholly (only counts vs 85 limit) or grayshirt (enroll in Jan. 2021 and count vs 2021 limit).
25 commits - 5 = 20 early signee commits:

Priorities for Early Signing Period - Dec. 18-20
(Early signees^ / enrollees* | February signees°)
28 spots - 20 early signee commits = 8 targets:
RB - Jase McClellan*
WR- Arian Smith^ &/or Rakim Jarrett°
TE - Darnell Washington° &/or JJ Pegues^
OL - Broderick Jones°
DL - Jordan Burch^ &/or McKinnley Jackson°
LB - Phillip Webb^

Tim Watts said they are trying to get confirmation on whether Dameion George will be signing tomorrow.

McClellan in, George out?
