After QB Tua Tagovailoa suffering yet another concussion last night against the Bills, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel concedes the team is looking for another QB...
quote:

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel’s Friday morning press conference was centered on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s condition and future after he suffered a concussion in Thursday night’s loss to the Bills, but there were also discussions about how the team will be moving forward while waiting for answers on those fronts.

Skylar Thompson replaced Tagovailoa on Thursday night and is the only other quarterback on the 53-man roster. Tim Boyle is on the practice squad, but McDaniel said he expects there to be another option in the mix soon.

“We will bring in someone, we’re just evaluating the pros and cons for the different situations,” McDaniel said.

See if they can trade for Hendon Hooker.

Dolphins should trade for Mac Jones. He's replaced Tua before and won a national championship. Stock is low now so maybe they could get him for a 3rd round pick or something...although Jax may like have a low cost backup that has lots of starting experience with a Pro Bowl on his resume. Mac was sabotaged in New England, but he can be a good QB...and you might not have to give up a ton to get him right now.

Tua is a good dude and I have nothing but respect for him as a person and appreciate everything he did for Bama BUT, this is what happens when you go the flag football route for the NFL. The little and fragile (physically and emotionally) players of today are nothing like the brutes and tough guys who played back in the day. Can you imagine Bradshaw, Elway, Griese getting concussed week after week from moderate hits and not being available for games? Sorry but the players now are very much made of glass.

Seems like a good dude. He needs to retire and care for his brain health. There is no shame in that after so many. Get a sound financial planner and move on.

Sucks for him but no one wants to see him braindead

I thought I heard he had a $127 million guaranteed contract. If true, I could be his financial planner and he’d be fine.

Ya know, I think Tua might be the kinda guy who'd say...look I got hurt, I can't play so I can't accept all of that contract that I'm owed. And let em off the hook for a portion of it. (boy, how he would be vilified then...haha)

His agent and the players association wouldn't let him do that...wouldn't want to set the precedent. But guaranteed contracts are insane. He signed the contract and if he retires for medical reasons he will be paid around $180 million for having played less than 2 games. Sure, they should have some kind of guarantees because of the nature of the game, but that's insane.

I personally thought he should have retired after the previous incidents. He might have a competitive fire, but that's never worth your long term health.

Seems like a good guy. Shame he's clearly more susceptible to concussions than others at the position.

Once you get a couple, it's easier and easier to get them.

I hate this for Tua. He's a competitor. I wish him the best......
