8&4 is the best-case.

Nah. But hiring Jimbo on a 10 year 100% guaranteed deal was always, always, always dumb and set us up for this.

The year that they come out and blow away the competition in the first two or three games will be the year they don't go 8&4 or 7&5.

Best case scenario that kind of season is 2 years off. Hope y’all are really for a bunch of “It’s Conner’s first full year as a starter! Can’t expect much yet!!!” for ‘23.

Problem is you guys are in the West

Alabama will be tops till Saban goes
Auburn is BiPolar, they start bad and finish good, and vice versa
Arkansas is your lesser flea now but who knows post jerryWorld
State has your number, just accept it and hope for the best
Ole Miss looks good with Kiffen if he stays
LSU will usually always have a D, it is their O you have to hope is bad

You lucked out with South Carolina
Rest of the East can beat you on a good day (if Mizzou gets it back together)

All the more reason to stay at 8 conference games and find an OOC rival where you can usually win 2 out of 3. Backfill a cupcake the game before your toughest game. Add 2 more mid to low P5's where you should win at least 3 out of 4. Normally this is where you play the basketball schools but this year they are on fire (except for Uconn)

8 wins will be an average year
9+ wins will be the exceptional year
6 wins will be rebuild year (or just bad breaks)

8-4 would be a win right now. We will struggle to get to 7 with this offense.

Or we could not accept mediocrity and try and become a dominant program. It’s what other schools like yours want, us to accept being average and never challenge. Clemson hadn’t done much either until dabo and he changed the culture and made them a winner. We just need the right coach.

Piss on accepting 8-4.

Except sports are zero sum games. Math and probably enter the picture. To dominate you must displace the dominant team. Every other conference only has 1 or 2 teams but here you have "the six" so for TAMu to dominate, you must displace multiple teams in a given year with more history.

Nothing in your reasoning is why we should accept mediocrity. We can only control what happens at our program. Find the right coach, change the culture, invest in the program (already mostly done for us. New facilities, money for assistant salaries, etc). That’s it. Control what you can and the pieces will fall in place. If you create a stable, competitive program you will move into the dominant category and push another out.

And the “big 6” is one of the dumbest things on the main rant. You don’t have 6 dominant programs in a single season anyways. Auburn and LSU are notoriously up and down, both fired NC winning coaches within 2 years of a title. Tennessee hasn’t done anything since the late 90s, early 2000s. Yes Bama is always good under saban and Georgia looks to be the same under Smart.

That's the coach. It should not redound to the players. He needs to get a portal program going. He always needs to have fourth year players on the O line. It's nice to have three and out defensive line five stars. The O line is different.

3-3 after Bama
4-4 after Ole Miss

UMass is a win.

LSU, Auburn, Florida we might win 2 to pull off 7-5. But IDK.
