Best campus in the country is UVA...and Charlottesville is a great college town.

But I am hopelessly biased.

Pepperdine is the best campus in the world

my thoughts on ole miss: yeah it's a pretty campus but the negatives far outweight the positives. it's in the middle of nowhere. town shuts down at midnight. doesn't sell cold beer. it has the potential to be great but it's filled with overzealous cops and smug preppies who actually think they're better than you because they wear penny loafers. i have a good time there but it could be a lot more fun if they just let loose

The campus is pretty cool with the lawn and Rotunda. I actually like the student being able to live right there too.

The town though? Maybe b/c I was there right after the spring semester was over but I wasn't that impressed.

***What's up with all the secret societies though? grafitti was everwhere.

Yeah, the societies have a rather prominent influence on campus. The major ones are the IMPS, 7s, 21s, Zs, all varying in secrecy and influence. The "graffiti" has to do with donations, membership, etc. If one of the societies helped raise the money or funded a building or staircase or something, they paint their image on the structure. Also, all the greek houses have the signs, signifying that a member of that house was a member of the society.

I wasn't in one, so that's about as much as I recall about them.

As for Charlotteville itself, the Corner and Downtown mall are great and the rural areas outside the city are gorgeous.

Lyceum and Ventress Hall are cool. Just spent about 20 minutes reading about them.

Wrong again. It's been in BR since 1869.

Downtown. But in its current location since 1926. Oldest building on the present day campus is the journalism building which was moved brick by brick from downtown to its current location.
