Vols shortstop Maui Ahuna is still ineligible to play five games into the 2023 season after transferring from Kansas over the offseason. Vitello didn't have a "specific update" on Ahuna following Tuesday night's 10-0 win over Alabama A&M in eight innings.
“No, I don’t have a specific update," Vitello told the media. "I know professionals from different entities are working on it, which makes me feel as good as I can and hopefully him as good as he can about it. People that are way more professional than me and a lot of people that are looking out for the kid’s sole interest. Hopefully, an update soon but I don’t have something specific now.”

Way to go Tennessee. Alabama is playing a dude who supplied a murder weapon, Tennessee does the right thing and suspends their coach for cheating.

Is this all because he contacted the guy too early? I don't follow baseball beyond when it comes up on this board. If it weren't for tRant, I wouldn't know CBB existed despite having friends on the team when I was at UT. It's just not a something I keep up with but I will say this Tony Vitello has done more to get me interested in a rather niche sport than anyone. If every team had guys with some spark to them it might make the sport watchable.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad the AD is doing the right thing on this. If you break the rules, well there's a price to pay for that. I'd rather the AD deal with stuff like this early and properly than wait and make a bigger mess of things.
