Texas doesn't have BBQ. They have brisket. It's okay.

I lived in Columbia for a few years. Honestly, the BBQ sucks. It's unworthy of the name. I'm not just flaming here; I mean it. The BBQ was just not good at all.

Edit: I did, however, love living in Columbia. Very cool place. And there were some nice restaurants. But the BBQ blows.

In all fairness, it's really difficult to take threads like this seriously when people have left the state of carolina jr because the food is so shitty

That's just me though

It's cheap cuts of pork and chicken thrown on a pit covered up in sauce. Almost zero skill involved.

Beef is for grilling. Pork is for BBQing.

If I'm going to eat beef, it's going to be a nice dry aged ribeye or NY strip...medium rare of course.

Pork? BBQ.

I hope you at least tried somewhere besides Maurice's.

Only aging hippie liberal douches put mustard on barbecue.

That's exactly what I was thinking. He went to Maurice's and that's his idea of South Carolina BBQ.

That's like going to Outback for Australian cuisine

I can't comment. I've never had any of that food. But it doesn't seem like it has many recommendations

Ok Carolina BBQ is better than ok brisket, but great brisket is better than just about anything on this world, including great carolina bbq.

You couldn't smoke a brisket correctly on your first try if your life depended on it

I attended a BBQ competition years ago in downtown Greenville. You pay one price to get in, and go around to each tent tasting their BBQ. Contestants from all over the U.S. I went on the day it was pulled pork. Not gonna lie, some damn fine BBQ was eaten that day. So much that I nearly vomited from eating nothing but cups of pulled pork. No side dishes. Just pulled pork, until I was bloated.
