He had 6 carries for 20 yards in 97 for the Cowboys at 35 and was forced to retire. Unless he became a much better running back in the last 17 years, which would completely defy aging, there is no way he would belong on a football field with other NFL players

I don'think Herschel Walker could make a squad. Warrior Herschel could compete for a special teams role though

He had 1500 yards rushing with the Cowboys in '87 I think. That was close to 30 years ago though

Is this a serious question? Just because he is ripped, doesn't mean he can still play.

Players start to lose a step by the time they turn 30. He'd be slow as shite on a field, and would get circles run around him.

Terrible question.

I thought this was a joke question but apparently Hershel thought he could a few years ago. LINK

He's in better shape than a lot of players in the NFL. He could hold his own on a scout team.

I'm sure he's slower (legs are the first thing to go), he's much more prone to injuries, and even minor ones will take a long time to heal.

So no way.

I haven't read the thread, but the answer is unequivocally that yes Herschel could play in teh NFL today.

Now, would he start? Of course not. Get 20 carries? Hell no. The dude is in his 50s. But with the shape he's in, he could get 3 carries a game and be fine. He may not do anything with them, but he would do ok. This question comes up every so often on the MSB and most people are like "yeah right! One or 2 carries and his joints would give out!!!" False. It's not JUST that he's ripped and huge, there are plenty of bodybuilders out there bigger, but he was one of the best RBs to ever step on a football field, and has still done athletic training still to this day.

Now....would he make a team? That's hard to say because I don't know what every team needs at RB and how their roster shakes out. But in the hypothetical that he was already ON a team, he could get some carries and would probably do pretty well, IMO.

Play in the NFL? No.

Become the first person to complete a triathlon at the age of 90? Probably.

Hell fricking no. He could not come anywhere close to making a roster.

Hell, he would have no chance of playing a down for an sec team. Even UK.

Exactly. Having a reasonable amount of mass and a low body fat percentage don't mean dick. I can guarantee that he doesn't have nearly the speed and explosiveness to compete in the NFL now. He'd get run down by DL's in the league now.
