(Following iron bowl) who’s in the short list to take his place?
Feel like Kiffin is the only reasonable answer at this point in time.

Kiffin's biggest wins as a head coach at Ole Miss are a bowl game vs Illinois and this year's win over a ranked Tulane.
He's a joke.

I didn’t say he was good. I can’t think over anyone better to fill the spot that would.

Jimbo was the first assistant to beat Saban. He earned the spot

Not for the illness pretending but if Bama has to hire someone this year it would have to be who ever is seen as the best coach in the nation (minus Smart). I wonder if they go back to the NFL for a middle of the road coach.

Dabo would be sweet because 75% of the fanbase hates him at the moment

Kiffin is staying in Oxford.

Keep telling yourself that pal

It would probably be Dabo maybe? I dunno.
Maybe muschamp? (Lulz j/k)
It's a good question.
Who is young and dynamic and in Saban's tree?

I have it on good authority that Alabama is John Gruden's dream job

Look man, I like him being our coach and all but he can go anywhere he wants to go. The fact is that he really feels at home in Oxford and he pretty much has the freedom to live his life there. His whole family wants him to stay in Oxford. I really don't see him leaving any time soon.

I’d be conflicted making the jump to Bama if I was Kiffin.
Being the one to follow Saban can be a disaster. The expectations would be incredibly high. You’ll likely have some conflict at the booster level. Is Kiffin willing or able to recruit the way Saban recruits?
On the other hand, it’s obviously a dream job for any coach. All the resources and tools at your disposal to win it all when you don’t necessarily have that at Ole Miss.
I think coaches typically take the chance anyways but there are at least some valid reasons not to take the job.

Might all be true but that’s the exact thing a million fan bases have said and they’re usually wrong. Typically when they’re right, it’s a guy on the back end of his career.
Most good coaches aren’t wired to be content and happy with their life. It’s why they keep working so hard despite being set for life with the money they’re making. So if he’s not winning championships at Ole Miss and he has the Bama job waiting for him, there’s more than a decent chance he takes it.

Kiffin has already stated in so many words, whoever agrees to follow Saban is an idiot.

Where did Saban having heart issues come from? Geesh. If Saban retired at the end of this year it's because he had already planned it. He didn't buy a house in South Florida just to sit empty.

I don't know. But that sounds like Saban will probably replace Day at OSU in a year or two and then go to the NFL and look like total shite.

They should go after Jimbo

Is this was a few more years down the line id Schuman would get a hard look, but right now idk if bama would take that kinda chance.
Although honestly they might as well since whoever follows saban will be considered a massive failure by the fanbase anyway

In your scenario, does Saban live?
