We have both in our area but their song is pretty distinctive when you can compare them within seconds of one another. They will answere one another also...so even they apparently have difficulty distinguishing the difference. They both will answer a pretty bad imitation of either one of them also so I don't know that judging their hearing is very scientific. That being said most people call all of 'em whipporwills....

Yeah, we have both too, the Chuck Will's Widows are more common though, and are almost year round.
We can hear those even in fairly cool weather.
