Ohio State will be down their starting QB. Ohio State QB Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal; he passed for 3,776 yards and 27 TD with the Buckeyes

That’s unfortunate. Would like to see them at their best, because we know the excuses will flow if Mizzou beats them. See: Arkansas, 2008 Cotton Bowl.

It’s disappointing to get a high caliber team in a NY6 bowl to see them bitch out like this.

McCord may not have even started the bowl game.
Coaches might have benched him for the bowl game and he entered the portal.

Is Kyle McCord still Ohio State's clear starting quarterback? Ryan Day is non-committal

But asked several times about the performance this season of quarterback Kyle McCord, the Ohio State coach was non-committal about whether the junior would remain the starter for next season.

Day even declined to say McCord is a lock to start against Missouri in the Cotton Bowl on Dec. 29. Ohio State had one practice last week and will have another late this week.

“But everyone's going to have an opportunity to compete and get after it during bowl practice. Then when it's time to go play in the game, we'll figure out who should get the reps and go from there, so I don't really have a great answer for that just yet.”

Or the coach knew he was going into the portal that's why he was non-committal.....or the QB is a giant douche....or both

We knew it would happen, Harrison Jr and several on their D will likely opt out too. At the end of the day, Ohio State has had top 5 recruiting classes every year under Day and is loaded with 4 and 5 star talent. They should still be able to compete with lowly Mizzou with a few key players missing, and although surely OSU fans would downplay it if Mizzou wins, Drink and the national media will lean into it and the win would get lots of attention. McCord was pretty mediocre anyway and Mizzou won’t have much film on the backup, this could be a wash for OSU

portal doesn't guarantee an opt-out.

Now we will face a QB and WR(s) we have no tape on. That’s been kryptonite in past years.
