Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino added a new quarterback to the Razorbacks' 2024 roster on Tuesday with the addition of Coastal Carolina transfer Blake Boda, who went public with his decision following a two-day official visit in Fayetteville (Ark.).

Boda, 6-4, 200, was a 2023 graduate of Cocoa (Fla.) who appeared in one game as a freshman last fall, completing his only pass attempt of the season for 14 yards in a 31-23 win over Texas State. Boda is listed as a redshirt-freshman who will have four years of playing eligibility remaining with the Hogs.

"The staff they have with Coach Pittman and Coach Petrino is special," Boda said of his decision. "Coach Petrino, for what he's done in the past, is just elite, top-level and he's one of the top coaches in the country. Just to play under him is just something special. Arkansas is SEC football so it's big-time, and just the guys I met have been great."

Petrino and the Razorbacks were in need of a fourth scholarship quarterback after Jacolby Criswell entered the portal and ultimately landed back at his original school, North Carolina. Arkansas brought in Boda for a Monday-Tuesday official visit and quickly sealed the deal.

"I loved every moment of it," Boda said. "Best visit I've been on, for sure. Loved the whole coaching staff. My time here has just been amazing."

When Boda returns to The Hill next month, he'll join a group that features penciled-in starter Taylen Green, who transferred in from Boise State this past winter, as well as redshirt-freshman Malachi Singleton and true freshman KJ Jackson.

"I believe I'm very accurate with the football," Boda said. "I believe that when I go out there, I play and make the game slow. I understand the game very well. I'm not the fastest guy or have the strongest arm, but I feel like I play very smart to my game."

As a prospect, the Florida native was a three-star according to 247Sports, which also tabbed him as the 125th quarterback in the land and the 298th overall recruit in the state of Florida. Boda signed with Coastal Carolina after taking other official visits at UNLV and USF, and turned down other scholarship offers from Missouri State and Bethune-Cookman.

Arkansas' five spring transfer commitments include Boda, plus former Florida State running back Rodney Hill, former Syracuse offensive lineman Joe More, former Jacksonville State linebacker Larry Worth, and former Utah State nickel Anthony Switzer. The Razorbacks entered the day with seven scholarship spots remaining following the departure of running back Dominique Johnson on Monday, but one was taken earlier in the day by Marshall transfer linebacker Stephen Dix Jr.

In addition to Boda, Arkansas' visit list so far this week has also included More, Dix Jr., and a yet-to-be-made-public visitor.

The Arkansas football team has added another piece to its quarterback room, as Coastal Carolina transfer quarterback Blake Boda committed to the Hogs on Tuesday evening.

A 6-foot-4, 200-pound redshirt freshman from Daytona Beach, Florida, Boda was recruited by Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino out of Cocoa High School and was even once committed to the Razorbacks' playcaller when he was at UNLV.

Boda saw action in three games last season and completed his only pass of the year for 14 yards against Texas State on Nov. 11.

Rated as a two-star prospect by Rivals in the class of 2023, Boda chose the Chanticleers over offers from programs like Bethune-Cookman, Missouri State, UNLV and South Florida.

As things currently stand, the Razorbacks have six scholarship spots open for possible additions.
