Head coach Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks have earned another commitment from the transfer portal, as Utah State linebacker-safety hybrid Anthony Switzer made his pledge to the Hogs on Friday.

A 6-foot, 210-pound Augusta, Arkansas, native, Switzer played three seasons at Arkansas State before transferring to Utah State for the 2023-24 season. In 12 games with the Aggies, Switzer totaled 84 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception.

Switzer made his commitment announcement on X (formerly Twitter) following a visit to Fayetteville earlier this week.

According to Pro Football Focus, Switzer played a total of 770 snaps for Utah State last season. He finished his campaign with a defensive grade of 66.5, a run defense grade of 56.3, a tackling grade of 59.5, a pass-rush grade of 70.7 and a coverage grade of 79.2.

During his three years in Jonesboro, Switzer racked up 91 total tackles, four tackles for loss and an interception.

Following Switzer's commitment, Arkansas now sits with 78 projected scholarship players on its roster.

Arkansas gained its third transfer commitment of the spring on Friday when Utah State nickel/safety Anthony Switzer announced his plans to join the Razorbacks for his fifth and final season in 2024.

Switzer, 6-0, 215, went public with his decision during an official visit in Fayetteville that began Wednesday. The Augusta (Ark.) native who played at Arkansas State prior to Utah State has also canceled his plans to check out the Pittsburgh Panthers on Friday. Switzer has now officially signed with the Razorbacks.

"It's the best fit for me and I'm the best fit for them," Switzer said. "At the end of the day, we mesh well together. I only have seven months left in my college football career. So that's the biggest thing, I can come in and be a good fit for the university and teammates. It's really just about my family."

Switzer, who posted 84 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 3 sacks a year ago, brings more experience to Arkansas' defense after having played in 38 career games. Defensive coordinator Travis Williams and the Razorbacks plan to use Switzer in the 'Hog' (nickel) role that Lorando Johnson filled before entering the transfer portal earlier in the week.

"Yes sir, they are recruiting me to play the Hog," Switzer said. "A little bit of overhang to the boundary too, it just depends on personnel. I feel like T-Will is going to give me a chance to maximize my versatility."

Coming back to the Natural State to finish off a lengthy college career is a dream come true to Switzer.

"Man the visit has been amazing," he said. "It was everything I dreamed about as a kid. I grew up in Augusta, Arkansas, so I've been a Hog fan all my life. This is a dream come true. Get to see the facility, see Coach Pitt, and spend time with Coach T-Will and Coach (Deron) Wilson. I finally got to meet Bobby Petrino. It's been everything plus some."

Switzer said the home feeling he got in Fayetteville was enough for him to stay an extra day on The Hill.

"I was considering Pitt, I was supposed to go on a visit today, but this has me feeling so much like home that I canceled that visit," Switzer said. "So I am staying here extra today."

The veteran added that Memphis, Colorado and Duke were also in contact prior to reaching his decision, but that he was set on "somewhere close to home."

With his pledge, Switzer joins former Florida State running back Rodney Hill and former Jacksonville State linebacker Larry Worth on Arkansas' incoming transfer list. He is expected to compete for the starting spot at Arkansas' HOG (nickel) position.
