Former Florida State running back Rodney Hill has committed to transfer to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Hill, 5-10, 190, will be a redshirt-sophomore in 2024 with three years of eligibility remaining.

The Statesboro (Ga.) native fills an important need for the Razorbacks, who were down to four scholarship running backs following Isaiah Augustave's departure earlier this week. Hill was close to calling the Hogs in January, but his scheduled official visit in Fayetteville was canceled after Arkansas landed a commitment from four-star transfer Ja'Quinden Jackson.

Hill, a heavily-offered three-star prospect as a high school recruit, committed to Florida A&M and then Miami after announcing his transfer decision in December.

As a true freshman, Hill played in four games but maintained his redshirt status while rushing 27 times for 144 yards and a touchdown. In 2023, Hill played in 12 games and produced 190 yards and a touchdown on 50 carries while also adding five receptions for 83 yards, and a pair of kickoff returns for 44 yards.

The 2022 graduate of Bulloch Academy joins a running back room that includes two redshirt-seniors in Jackson and Dominique Johnson, a junior in Rashod Dubinion, and a true freshman in Braylen Russell.

Arkansas is also hosting a transfer linebacker in Larry Worth of Jacksonville State. The Razorbacks hosted Charlotte transfer linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green earlier in the week and currently leads for his signature.

Here's more on Hill from the official Florida State website:

The Arkansas football team has received its first transfer commitment from the spring transfer portal, as former Florida State running back Rodney Hill announced his pledge to the Razorbacks according to a report by Pete Thamel on Friday.

A 5-foot-10, 190-pound Georgia native, Hill was offered by Arkansas when he entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, but he ultimately committed to Florida A&M.

During his two seasons with the Seminoles, Hill combined to rush for 334 yards and two touchdowns on 77 carries (4.34 yards per carry). His career-high came during his freshman campaign, when he carried the ball nine times for 55 yards and a touchdown against Duquesne.

Hill was a three-star prospect out of Bulloch Academy and chose Florida State over offers from programs like Colorado, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

Following Hill's commitment, Arkansas has 78 scholarship players on its roster and seven remaining spots to use on transfers. Be sure to follow along at The Trough premium message board for updates on the Razorbacks' roster fluctuations this offseason.

Former Florida State running back Rodney Hill has committed to Arkansas, per On3’s Pete Nakos. He spent the past two seasons with the Seminoles.

Hill has had a tumultuous offseason. He initially entered the transfer portal on Dec. 13. He committed to Florida A&M, decommitted from the Rattlers, committed to Miami, rejoined Florida A&M and then opted to re-enter the portal.

Now, he’s seemingly finally found a home in Fayetteville. Hill appeared in 16 games with FSU the last two seasons, including a dozen last fall as a redshirt freshman. In total, he has rushed for 334 yards and a pair of scores on 77 career carries.

In 2023, Hill rushed 50 times for 190 yards and a score. That was the fourth-most carries for the Seminoles for the third-most rushing yards. He also caught five passes for 83 yards, which averaged out to one of the best numbers on the team at 16.6 yards per reception.

Hill, a native of Statesboro, Georgia, played high school football at Bulloch Academy. He was a three-star prospect and the No. 506 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as the No. 38 RB in the class and the No. 50 player out of his state.
