It's called insurance, and the only reason he has the potential to make millions is because of college football to start with.

You are kidding right. I mean was it not the University that allowed him to become the player he is, what about the coach who coached him and made him a better player, what about the fan who bought the ticket who makes it possible for him to be playing in college.

None of these players get to where they are without all of the people you mentioned. How about these you punks who are only thinking about themselves respect the University, the Coaches and thre fans who have made it possible for them to be in a position to make millions.

Where are the other options then? The NFL plain out does not want them. Period. Nor do they want a guy who hasn't shown much game experience.

The NFL is not a development league.

Aside from that, the other leagues that pop up from time to time can barely afford to pay their players $50k a year. Which is MUCH less compensation than what college players receive, less than 50% on average.

These players are more than free to pay for their own trainers, do their own PR, hope they get an invite to the combine somehow and make their own career.

For some reason, they all instead choose to go the college football route.

But go ahead and be one of those idiots who doesn't have a clue about the real world. You stolen valor piece of shite.

No you don't. Besides, anyone who signs up and gets discharged has a DD214 and the fact you would cite such a thing pretty much highlights you are a stolen valor punk.

Well actually they receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits not available for other students even student athletes in other sports. These players have the benefits that we see millionaires with to play a game with an opportunity to showcase their talents so that they can make millions in the future. Truth is even if it’s for 4 years they live a better life than most Americans will ever have.

Well of course they are students before athletes. If them opting out of school to pursue a professional athletic career isn't evidence of that, nothing is.

I can respect their decision as long as they return the money that the scholarship was worth when they signed on the dotted line. Seem fair?

You do realize that the NFL is the one causing them to sit out for 3 years before they go pro right? You also realize that you could just not go to college? If you feel that a group of people are taking advantage of you and riding on your coat tails to make money while providing you nothing to get to the next level, why would you voluntarily participate in that? If you're so good, after high school just work out at the local park, send film of it to the NFL and work a normal job and get paid like you feel you deserve. You will surely get drafted, I mean those coaches and fancy schmancy schools aren't doing anything but using you so you should be totally fine.

Did you realize my post was sarcasm and I've been making the same arguments in this thread(aka I agree with you)?

I upvoted you anyway though.
