too good? I think you are taking his quote out of context.

Don't know if out of context or not, but maybe I misunderstood. I took it to mean not pursuing elite recruits because we weren't landing any of them, which made sense to me when right in the same time frame as him saying that Tatum cut Mizzou out. So I took it to mean pursuing more guys like Puryear/Allen than Tatum/Porter.

I agree with you about the handlers and I assumed that is again why he meant not pursuing elite talent, because he never had to develop those relationships with the handlers.

Maybe I just misinterpreted his quote but with it seemed to make sense.

"I think what we have to do at Missouri is, and every school has to do this, I think they have to know who they can recruit," Anderson said. "Who fits the University of Missouri. And I'm not saying that, I think you have to know who you can successfully recruit and then recruit those people. I think that's what we're trying to do. We're trying to recruit guys that fit into our program, guys that want to be here, guys that we can develop and good players."

"I'm not saying we don't want the five-star guy," Anderson said. "I'm not saying that. I'm just saying we have to know who we can recruit."

I have seen a lot of discussion on recruiting omit the second sentence. Mizzou still want's talent, just not on the level of Kentucky & Duke and be in the door with all the elite talent.
