That is an odd choice. But J.B. Whitworth for Alabama.

Les Miles. 6 10+ win seasons. Pathectic.

+1. Dude thought acting tough and flexing his jaw muscles=winning in the SEC.

All time - Ears Whitworth
Modern era - mike dubose.
Dubose brought us our worst season SINCE Whitworth in 97 but then made up for it with some decent seasons. However the NCAA violations that happened under his watch directly caused the second worst era in Alabama history even though he wasn't currently the coach. So I give him the nod for worst in the modern era.

The way Fran destroyed our program was impressive. He destroyed relationships with high school coaches, recruited to a dead and ineffective system, lost to Baylor for the first time in over 20 years, had a shutout loss on the road in Norman that still hangs over the program almost ten years later, and destroyed any and all buzz around the program. To see what A&M is doing this year, with essentially Sherman's players, is a testament to a couple things.
1) Mike Sherman's fundamentals as a football coach, talent evaluator, and player developer will always be under appreciated.
2) The amount of talent in the state of Texas, and the development of high school players in the state is unmatched. I don't give a frick about the SEC and its traditional recruiting grounds, but nothing beats Texas high school football.
3) The Power of God.
4) The Aggie Spirit.

its cant be stressed enough on how badly he killed our program. we were a consistent winner in the 80s and 90s and then he shows up in 2002 and then we have the lost years of aggie football. he destroyed what jackie and RC built and our program is just now starting to recover
