one thing he refuses to do even though he’s shown to be a 40% shooter from 3 on a high volume.

He just will not take a 3 unless he is wide open for whatever reason.

Even then he wont. He’ll move inside to take a contested middie. He did it several times throughout the season and in playoffs.

To make it worse he also wont do anything off ball to get himself open for a 3.

BI seemed to be "surprised" by playoff basketball. The physicality frustrated him and he did not change his game. He continued to play ISO against a good defender and not take the open shots when he had them. He consistently dribbled into the lane and met resistance.

I've said it before many times, although I don't think many of you care.
BI isnt' someone who shoots the ball quickly when he catches it. He has to step into his shot for some reason. Rarely do you ever see him catch and shoot without moving his feet. He always steps into it. He's usually already stepping into the pass if he's going to shoot it. I don't know why he has to do this, but he does almost every single time on a C&S 3, and it gives the defender plenty of time to challenge his shot.

watch how he shoots. this is from the Toronto game when he hit 8 3's. The first one he has to step into the pass to take the shot.

and i'm not using that as an excuse to not shoot more 3's, b/c even with his slower process of shooting 3's, he should still take more of them on a nightly basis than he has been.

It's not even just the lack of 3s.

On Jake's show yesterday, he pointed out that, when we had a true PG, BI took 25% of his shots at the rim, and that figure was only 15% this season. Time and time again this season, BI would pull up for a middie instead of taking the ball to the hoop. I remember back when he put on weight and said that he wanted to start dishing out some of the blows, and that guy disappeared this season.

We saw throughout the season, but especially at the end against Dort, that BI struggles against close, physical defense. BI does best when he has space. Even though it didn't really work, we were better back when CJ was trying to play PG than we were with BI trying to be the lead ball handler.
