Curley Hallman LSU fans said he would take them pass Alabama

Anyone who was paying attention at the time knew this guy was a bust.

He staked his claim by beating Florida St in 1989 never mind losing the next 4 and ending the season 5-6. Then Alabama in 1990 then ending the season 8-4. Also forget him having the benefit of starting the 33rd player drafted in 1991. In their defense, noone could have known he would end up a top 5 QB of all time.

I would've said he was overrated before, but I feel like his recent success has matched his hype level now.

No Tennessee fan supported the Dooley hire. The justification you gave up is ironically what we said to ourselves about Kiffin who we all knew wasn’t ready yet but he brought Monte to ease doubts. Ppl believed in his potential though. It took Kiffin a while to figure things out (multiple jobs were too big for him too early). Dooley was only hired because Kiffin left past the hiring cycle due to USC and their NCAA mess. Had Kiffin left earlier we’d have never been stuck with Dooley and that timing and Dooley are the reason a lot of fans still hate Kiffin.

There is no way that Jimbo can even be on the list at all. He won a national championship at FSU. In six seasons at TAM he only had one losing season. He finished 2nd in the west twice. He had a winning record in bowl games. He finished 4th in the nation one season. His overall record was 45-25. His 64.2% winning percentage is better than TAM’s all time 58% winning percentage.

Was he overpaid? Yes. Did he fail to meet TAM’s expectations? Yes. Was he a fraud? No.

Will Aggie fans wish he were still their coach in a season or two? Very likely.

Probably polishing his SEC east title rings.

Some of you are just not very smart.

There have been a LOT of horrible coaches in the SEC. And you nominate a guy that played in multiple SEC title games.

I would take Heupel over your division 2 and BS ND coach any day.

Imagine if someone how we had the misfortune of hiring BK over Heupel. We would still be burning in the flames that Pruitt left us in.

I get this in one way, but any time you pay someone $76 million dollars to not coach your team anymore, insinuates that you were sold a false bill of goods and thus, he was a fraud.

Jimbo gets a bad rap. Any sentient being knows what he is...and always has been. Handing him the keys to the car is on the person handing over the keys....I would be far worse as a coach...had anyone offered me 1/10th of his salary Id take it and thank them for their vote of confidence....

Well yeah, but you also said Milton would be better than Jayden Daniels.

You just aren't good at making predictions.

Maybe not but Heupel owns the head 2 head and he did it with a team coming off 3 and 7 win seasons and 15 years of dysfunction.

He won a title though. And tbh no one really believed in him beyond a segment of the LSU fanbase. Not sure that qualifies given the expectations.

It's one game.

Pat Narduzzi, Dan Mullen, and Jeff Brohm all beat Heupel in his first season, Heupel is .500 vs Billy Napier.

Would you take any of those guys over Heupel?

Milton was nothing but sheer optimism. You can keep hiding behind that as long as you want as a cut down. But i predicted 2022 when no one else saw it coming.

Go look at our roster. If you can't see the difference between last year and this year then well, that's probably why you think BK is the right guy in baton rouge. Stupid corn dog.

All of your predictions are sheer optimism.

He's won 10 games back-to-back, Tennessee hasn't done that in 20 years or more.

So a “fraud” won a national title? What does that say about every other coach who hasn’t won a single one? And I ask that as an A&M who certainly was displeased with the results at the end of his tenure. The game passed him up, no doubt, but frauds don’t usually win it all. And no Aggie seriously said he would be better than saban or Bryant, stop being dramatic.

If you’re gonna list an Aggie coach, Franchione should be up there.

Chad Morris also comes to mind (at least for college ranks, he was a pretty good high school coach). 3 years at SMU, 2 years at Arkansas and he hasn’t been a HC since.

This my thought. Overpaid for sure, but he has too much of a career record to be considered the biggest fraud. He could recruit with the best of them and had a career .750 winning %.

Tom Herman was a fraud, with all his supposed MENSA Bulls#it

Charlie Weiss was a fraud, with his rep as the shrewdest offensive mind in the country.

Rich Rod was a fraud, although he did stitch together a three good seasons at WVA.
