Hugh gets a pass for year one (as coaches should) because inertia is a thing. If we don’t see progress this year then his seat will steadily start warming up.
Harsin’s seat got rocket hot quick because everyone could see the direction things were going. See what I’ve been saying all thread and RT1941’s post above.

Auburn's last win vs. a Power 5 team that finished with a winning record came vs. Ole Miss on Oct. 30, 2021.
Since then, Auburn lost 17 such matchups in a row.
Auburn even lost a game last year to New Mexico State at home.

In his defense they were trying to find reasons to fire him before he got started good. Hard to recruit against that type of negativity…

Got investigated for absolutely no reason by the "famblee". Completely undermined the guy. In a just world he should win a lawsuit against Auburn for ruining him.

Yet so glad to get rid of Harsin.
Just how excited were you that your favorite beloved tradition...the Running of the Gumps...has returned?
Once again, you are proof that morons are gonna moron.

Yes. When a couple of high school coaches within a 100 mile radius of the Auburn campus said they'd never seen Harsin enter their doors (and he'd been at Auburn for 14 months), everyone knew he had not clue how to run and SEC program. What's more, his ego wouldn't allow him to listen and learn from his own staffers, many who had years of SEC recruiting experience. Derrick Mason, Will Friend, Mike Bobo, Carnell Williams, etc had years on the SEC recruiting trail and they knew how to recruit. Yet Harson with his "alpha-male" persona harped on accountability and hard work and couldn't bring himself to sell the Auburn program or his vision of football. Hell, in his 1st year at AU, he never darkened the doors of Thompson HS, or Carver HS, Montgomery Catholic who had some of the state's top talent that year.
Thank you.
This is all well known.
Look, for all I know Harsin is a great guy. He did make it a point to be at his kid’s high school football games and all that. That’s a credit to him and probably means he’s a good father.
But if you’re going to be the head coach in an SEC program with expectations like Auburn, you’re going to be expected to put your nose to the grindstone to recruit. Harsin wouldn’t fricking do it. Sure getting to your kid’s games is important but at the same time you’re getting paid 5 million a year to do a job. He didn’t.

Don't blame you. That's an awful stat.
The good news is Hugh has shown the ability to beat the best of the best. The bad news is that he also does more stupid things than the average coach. Makes it hard to know what your future prospects are under his leadership.

Many Auburn fans were laughing about Drinkwitz losing to Harsin. Drinkwitz finally decided to hire an OC to take complete control of the offense. So, he can focus on being the HC. Then the team went 11-2. No way Freeze is going to do anything close to what Drinkwitz did last season. Good luck to this coming season but not against Mizzou.

Bama fans, folks
The fact that Bama fans have CFB on their minds in May and their hated rival is at the forefront may be a reason Alabama is as successful as they are...
The inverse may be true at Auburn....

We can always count on bama fans to be an encyclopedia of auburn trivia. The obsession is part flattering part creepy.
And may be, just possibly, the reason Alabama has a double digit lead in wins against Auburn. Expectations drive results....if wining 8 games a year is acceptable to fans and supporters 8 wins is the norm. If winning a natty is the expectation its surprising how many times a natty is won and getting close to one is accomplished...expectations drive results. The only difference between Alabama football and the rest of the CFB world is expectations and demands of supporters...there ain't something in the water in Tuscaloosa that creates magic...it is the expectations that have developed over the years to be at the top of the heap. Alabama fans being consumed with Alabama football is a big part of that.
As a UGA fan I can attest to how expensive one successful season is for a fan that has the means and desire to support their team in person from Thanksgiving through the Middle of January. Alabama fans, obsessed with Alabama football, have done it for about 12 years running. That obsession is based in part on expectations which drive results.

Yeeeeah because me sitting at my desk typing about CFB at 6:30AM on May 9th is gonna spur on our pass-rush on October 5th...
Stop glazing the Bama fans, you already sound stupid, now you also look desperate.

They stopped playing football in 2019.
2020 - 6-5
2021 - 6-7
2022 - 5-7
2023 - 6-7
This decade of barner football would make Doug Barfield proud.

I mean...Alabama fans sitting at desks in early-May 2003 were enough to get Mike Price fired after the incident in Pensacola.

I had lunch with an Auburn man yesterday. Had a great time together talking old times. We didn’t talk sports very much but I asked him one question. Was he satisfied with the direction Auburn football was heading?
His answer was that he felt that something was going on with the overall program that didn’t feel right. He said the thing which separated the two teams was that everyone who had anything to do with the Alabama football program pulled in the same direction. If a mistake was made in anyway that problem was solved and the program moved forward. Saban made sure of that. At Auburn that may not be the case. He was hopeful for Auburn’s success but that the jury was still out.
