I'm sure people had this same view in the 70s. Then Ronald Reagan was elected in a monumental landslide.

the difference in the 70s was that the Left, for the most part, still believed in America and American values. half the country now literally thinks America is an evil country.

A Ronald Reagan type is not getting elected anytime soon, not with the demographics of the country today.

Might want to check the demographics of 1970s America and compare to today. Not even remotely the same country.
