’ll say it. Inside I’ve always felt Saban is still a Tiger fan"

I don't think so . Saban spent 17 seasons at Alabama. Not many coaches stay that long at the same school these days.

Let's be honest - After bringing GumpU back from the brink (and the stink of him leaving for the Dolphins only to land in Tuscalooser two years later), I'm not sure Baton Rouge would have taken Saban back at that time under any circumstances.

Besides, if you believe all the talk about the REC running the SEC back then, why would he leave a place that built him a friggen statue and where he's revered as the next best think to Christ and double-wides? He did what Darth Hoodie couldn't do - built a dynasty and then went out on his own terms idolized as the GOAT (regardless of whether or not his career was at it's zenith or descending back to earth).

People will forever put Saban on a pedestal higher than Belichick's, and that's not something that would have happened if he'd returned to LSU after restoring the Gumps to relevance.

That's not to say he did (or didn't) harbor some love for LSU, but him staying at GumpU until he retires says nothing about how he feels about LSU - in either direction.
