And for the record, just adding good teams to a conference is dumb.
All conference records equal out to .500. It doesn't matter how good your teams are, that's always going to be the result.
Which is to say there is always going to be a limited amount of success. There can only be 1 conference champion every year etc. There is always going to be a Vanderbilt. Remove Vanderbilt, and a new basement team is going to take their place.
Take the 12 best teams in the country and put them in a single conference, and in 15 years one of them is going to be the Vanderbilt of the conference. Attendance will drop, nobody will spend NIL for losers.
Limited success, it's not optional.
The SEC as a conference will still have it's champion and sure that champion is likely going to be damn good and have a great chance to win the national championship. And with playoffs, multiple teams even. But I'm not a "SEC Fan". I'm a fan of a team in the SEC.
People running the show are short sighted and blinded by contract numbers.
On the bright side, it takes a few years for shite like that to happen, so should be good match ups for awhile.

While I understand what you are saying.. my argument is SEC Baseball..
The SEC is by far the hardest baseball conference in the country..
quote:
check out these stats since 2021 (3 years)
3 different teams won the NC
LSU 2023
Ole Miss 2022
Miss State 2021
3 different teams lost the NC
Florida 2023
Oklahoma 2022
Vanderbilt 2021
3 different teams finished tied for 3rd
Texas A&M 2022
Arkansas 2022
Texas 2021
2 different teams won a game in Omaha
Tennessee 2023
Auburn 2022
3 different teams made it to Super Regionals
South Carolina - 2023 SR
Kentucky - 2023 SR
Alabama - 2023 SR
1 different team might host this year
Georgia - RPI is 11th in 2024
That is 15 of 16 teams kicking arse since 2021.. so it can work out quite good despite how hard it is.. If you want to take Texas and OU out of the argument.. that is still 13 of 14 teams kicking arse..

Can't believe I agree with an Alabama fan, but he's right. Texes and Oklahoma are driving two teams to below average in some sports. Adding more good teams drives more teams to below average in some sports.

In theory you are right but in actuality the Vandys of the world stay down because they aren’t making any attempt to compete. In a league full of power teams, one of them will always have to finish last, but they won’t always stay down perennially.
