There are 9 college football programs that have averaged at least a 12.5 SP+ rating since WW2. Those 9 just enjoyed their best ever collective season. Their 9 best seasons: 1971-74, 2017-19, 2022-23.

SEC has 5 of them:

LSU a blueblood? No way. I've been told over and over that is not true.

YES = Alabama (representing the South)
NO = Georgia (behind Alabama)
NO = LSU (behind Alabama)
NO = Michigan (behind Ohio Sate)
YES = Notre Dame (representing USA and East Coast)
YES = Ohio State (representing upper Midwest)
YES = Oklahoma (representing lower Midwest)
NO = Penn State (behind Notre Dame)
NO = texas (behind Oklahoma)

You can not be a mega blue blood and be behind another school in your region.

Drop Georgia, Penn State,.and LSU. Add Nebraska and USC. One school has 5 NCs and 40+ conference championships while the other has 11.NC and roughly 40 conference titles. Also pretty sure both are top 9 in all time wins. (Could be wrong about USC.

The 3 schools dropped can be added to about half a dozen other schools as tier 2.

Any program that didn’t win its first national title until the 1980s and its second until the 2020s is certainly not a “blue blood”

Blue blood status can’t be earned in a four or five year period, nor can it be lost in a short period. It by nature takes decades to establish and decades to lose.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are the only “blue bloods” of the sport.

There are another 13 elite programs, but none are “blue bloods” and none are particularly close to being a blue blood. Those 13 are: Michigan, USC, Nebraska, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Penn State, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, Auburn, and Clemson.

Year after year, OU ran up massive win totals against schools like Iowa State, Kansas, etc. you really screwed yourselves moving to a conference where you won’t be the football champs most years. OU has no reason to exist outside of football wins, and you just traded that away. What the hell will be your claim to fame now? Meteorology? You’re gonna end up just like Nebraska.

I only see 3 SEC teams. Or are we including 2 teams that are still a few months away from officially being in the conference and have not won jack shite as members of said conference.

Nothing those schools won as members of other conferences counts as SEC victories
