Some of it was teams being dumb and falling into the trap of getting into a 3 pt competition with them.

We were in Tuscaloosa and we only lost by 4 as compared to them losing by 18 on our court, but this is exactly why we really lost. That game is the first time I heard Bruce tell his guys through the media they have to stop shooting. We literally fell into their trap.

Johnni and Jaylin couldnt get enough looks against them even if we passed it to both every possession.

Myles Rice has cancelled his visit to AU. Sounds like Pegues to AU should happen any time now.

Just my opinion, but I think the days of taking freshman PG's and C's is mostly over. You need players who are ready to contribute day 1. Of course if you can get a talented player to come in and be willing to back up then you take them.. but its better to let someone else develop them and then just come in a year or two later and get them with NIL. 2-4 you can just put good athletes that can score, but 1 and 5 take too long to develop.

Why would we take Pegues over Rice when the Pegues is rated behind Tre? Rice is ranked twice as high?

I think you try to get a couple stars and a few developmental guys every class. 2 ea 4/5 star and 2 ea 3 stars. Infill the gaps or upcoming needs with transfers.

Mark Sears averaged 8 points as a freshman in the Ohio league or something. So if we go looking for the next Mark Sears we could still get stuck with Wendell.

Because the coaching staff does the evals and not message board users?

I think his ranking is lower because he's just coming from a lower level and Rice played in a P5 conference.

Likely because we don’t have a PG on the roster and a bird in the hand is better than two in a bush. The vibe from Hoke was that the staff views Pegues as the better offensive player and Rice better defensively, but with 3 years to improve on offense. Pegues is a one and done guy which I’m sure isn’t ideal, especially considering how much we could potentially lose next year.

We were never going to get both to come so I get them going with the one they know they can get if they’re close on their evaluations. Also I believe I’ve seen some rankings with Pegues higher so don’t get too caught up in those.

I would agree with that as well as this was just some cbs writer who compiled a list. And apparently he updates it because now he doesn't even include Pegues. No worry from me on JP, the kid's stats are very impressive and he will playing his 4th year next season. Put up 410 shots with 229 being 3's, he's not bashful. Shot over 87% from the line too.

For one thing.. the portal rankings are terrible every single year without fail. I follow the portal fairly closely and I never even look at the rankings anymore. Look at efficiencies, usage, and conference strength

24/7 list Pegues at #12 and also mention him first in another article about who could be this year's Dalton Kinect

He could be in my top 5 Auburn guys, across all sports, all time. Just looks like he's enjoying life.
