ditching this: if it's true about the Ming dynasty activities in this realm, or if it's just British historians saying it to make themselves feel better about the Opium Wars, ditching this

Have no idea what the OP was about, but I listened to a podcast on this within the past year or so, and that's sort of an insane footnote of history, that the British (militarily) forced the Chinese to legalize, import, and essentially deal their drugs, keeping that populace addicted.

There is certainly no love lost on my part regarding China, and of course there's always more to the story, but at least on the surface that's pretty messed up.

(Might need Arksulli to set me straight if I'm getting something wrong.)
