Just put the JD Gator up from getting cattle into my calving lot for the night and I hear and see a duck struggling slapping the water with his wings in a pond in front of my house.
I figured he was tangled in fishing line or something.
I get a kayak on the truck and run down there and I finally catch him. When I pulled him out of the water I see a big turtle has him by his foot. I hit the turtle in the head with the paddle and he let him go.
Now I can pay attention to the cow I have calving.

Good job!
Do you farm cattle mostly/entirely?

Did the turtle look like this?
Good job with the duck and keep us posted on updates.
I tried cat herding once, that ended my herding career.

Do you have Indians and corporations trying to buy your land? Do they ever try to drive you off your ranch? How many people have you talen to the train station?
Sorry, I'm watching Yellowstone right now and I'm a little obsessed with it to be honest.

I have those same gloves!
Sans the duck.
To those asking, there are other threads (at least on this board) where OK has posted video stills of his cattle and action shots of calving. Really great and fascinating stuff.

Maaaaaaan, looks like a lot of fun out there.. My parents have about 8 acres of land out here in Central Texas where they raise Boer goats. Not nearly the amount of land and livestock you've got, but it keeps my dad busy enough. At 80 years old, he still gets after it every day out in the pasture.

That little guy looks pretty delicious.
It’s a good thing you got to him before the turtle finished him off.
I’m thinking you roast him up “Peking” style (also basting occasionally with maybe a sesame/ginger marinade during the roast process), and serve over Lo Mein with some stir fried veggies.
Nice going, Roughneck…Bon Appétit !!

Marinate for 24 hours then put on a slow cook cycle.
