I think you worded your question wrong. From my understanding you had already gifted him this handgun back when he lived with you in Louisiana. So when he comes to visit, he will only be picking up his handgun that you've been keeping a hold of.
Is that about right?

No, the handgun was purchased several years after he moved out of state and now I am gifting it to him ! Thanks
