Baton Rouge native here. But been living in Athens for nearly 30 years. So I get a cool college town with great weather and hot coeds ever fricking where.

I go back home on the regular and get reminded no matter how much I still love Baton Rouge I don’t think I could handle that next level heat or traffic anymore.

Yes BR has some rough areas and some ugliness but it has plenty of charming areas too and yes the food selection is awesome. And even the rough areas are interesting (in the daytime) I love going up to Tony's Seafood on Plank Rd. That’s a rough area but I think the folks i meet there are pretty cool.

I need an EBT card for boiled crabs!

Ann Arbor. No question.

Michigan is a beatiful state, with great hunting, world class fishing for pretty much anything that can live in freshwater, and Ann Arbor itself is a nice little town.

There must be some nice gated neighborhoods in Baton Rouge. Nobody who makes seven figures has to live in the hood.

Now let’s ask: where would you rather live? Tuscaloosa or Seattle? College Station or Durham, NC? Oxford or L.A.? Starkville or Anyplace Else?

Great response!
With good money you can live in good areas with no problems and enjoy a good life. Most of BR is good and safe. But the heat and the traffic are killers for me. Some day they will fix the traffic…. But that heat is forever. Still, I’d choose it over the blistering cold months in Michigan. Just the food, fishing and women are enough. And yea, Tony’s is a game changer. We never leave BR for home without a 100 count tray of Tony’s Cajun boudin balls. Damn we love that place.

Michigan too cold
Most of Louisiana too dumb.

And I lived there amongst the rabble for most of my life.

Finally got out after Katrina.

Houston was too big, congested and hard to navigate.

Pensacola was just a SE Extension of Redneck Alabama with an Awesome Beach attached to it. (Can't go to the Beach in November, December, January and February though)

Baton Rouge is a filthy Hole of Shite in too many areas (Not all of it) with my Alma Mater attached to it. We lasted a few years there, but after the LSU Athletic Department turned the LSU Game Day Experience into a big hassle and the actual game into an "NFL Like Spectacle" full of annoying and irritating Piped-In Music with a Fricking DJ, we had enough.

Got the hell out of BR and Louisiana totally with a much more satisfying lifestyle on the Beaches of East Central Florida.

I miss the Louisiana food and being close to LSU, but that's about it!..........

I’m from The Baton Rouge area

People that don't live in Baton Rouge don't realize that there's almost 2 separate cities and that living South Baton Rouge is an ENTIRELY different experience from living in North BR.

Every city has poor areas riddled with crime. Are you numb nuts under the impression that this is where Kelly lives?

I’d rather live where I can win natty’s on the regular. We have 3 in 20 years….MI has two since 1948!! That’s ridiculous for such a football school ;)

I'm honestly just impressed you can read license plates well enough to remember this line.
