Details are not available, but sources state that Cochran's office was empty Wednesday morning.

Damn, I hope he didn't relapse. He celebrated 2 years of sobriety back in July.

ETA: Maybe DeBoer hired him to coach Special Teams!? Kidding, sorta.

Well, Bama did just lose Paul Constantine, aka the guy who holds the Ballout belt, so that position is available

I, too, hope it isn't alcohol related.

Alabama athletics operated in a deficit of about $12.1 million during the 2023 fiscal year, according to Alabama's NCAA Financial Report obtained via open records request by The Tuscaloosa News.

$14.3 million in gifts collected during the 2023 fiscal year were not expensed in 2022-23 and not included in the report, however, per UA. Otherwise, that would have put Alabama in a surplus.

The Crimson Tide reported $199.9 million in total operating revenues and $212 million in total operating expenses.

During the 2022 fiscal year, Alabama reported $214.4 million in total operating revenues and $195.9 million in total operating expenses.

This is bizarre as I was going to mention his name as someone that DeBear should target to bring back the last few weeks, but assumed it wasn't worth mentioning because I thought he was best friends with Kirby.

Believe it or not Cochran scored high, (according to a coach grading analytic site) and could be coincidence or not but Bama seemed to make less asses quit after Cochran left the program. I think he really made have been a personality that was able to influence others to go to war, or run through a brick wall so to speak.

Definitely curious what's up with him.

The team was even more vicious with Pruitt, I don’t think Cochran was as much of a tone setter as everyone likes to remember him as. We also hemorrhaged guys from odd injuries

I’d rather not touch him, the Ballou sports science approach made us faster and healthier. 6-1 against Georgia and people want to swap over nostalgia let’s not go back to the Stone Age simply because the guy acts mean

I was saying that he (shockingly) graded high as a special teams coach. I definitely was not suggesting bringing him back as head of Strength and Conditioning.

We still lost both starting corners and both starting WR's in the playoffs under the new team in one season.

Honestly, I've been curious if Bama was an anomaly over the years with all the injuries, or if all teams see the same amount of injuries. Either way, Bama seemed to lose the most crucial guys. Several titles were denied because of bad injury luck to certain critical players. We had to be at the top of the leaderboard there for a few years with all the injuries is my total guess.

So to my point, this Nunez hire does not move the needle for me, but after finding out that Cochran actually graded out as one of the best ST coaches in the country (helps to have a lot of five stars on ST I'm sure) I would have been interested to bring him back as ST coach.

I think the guy brings an intensity that is contagious if you're 18-22 years old that is. Past 25 you'd probably ask him to turn it down a bit.

It's part of modern college football. All teams do it to placate their assistant coaches in an attempt to keep them longer. We're not unique. Sort of silly, but I guess it lets them pad their resumes.
