I’ve been pretty adamant on this board all season that he was insufferable most of the season. After the tulane game I came here and said it was getting bad. Then after the bama game it got even worse. To the point where him and the offensive linemen got in a physical altercation. They’ve been worried since spring practice due to his poor attitude and work ethic, but no one had the balls to say anything to him because everyone was so worried about him leaving. Well, since the year has gone on, it gets a little easier to puff your chest at him because his production has fallen off a little. If Bentley had the same number of carries as Judkins this year, he would have had 200+ more yards. It just makes no sense to pay him double his valuation (literally) when all he did this season is tear the locker room to shreds and underperform. Everything coming out has already been said on this board.

On a positive note, we have been contacted by 4 solid RBs already. We will be able to pick who we want. Next year we’re gonna be so good that it will make any RB look good by default

Agreed. I don’t think people realize how incredible our passing game is going to be next year. If we can just find a power back to replace Judkins production and get Bentley to come back and add a few more O-Linemen we should be unstoppable on offense.

Other than that we have the guy from Prep (Matt Jones) who played behind Jerion Ely. All I remember is that when Ely finally graduated he had a great JR year. But then he go hurt his SR year at Prep. And then maybe redshirted for a year and hasn't really seen the field.
Other than him I can't name a single RB on our roster, although I am sure we have some good ones in the pipeline. What do you know about them?

Bentley and Judkins were a little too similar for my liking. Personally I want a bigger back that can knock linebackers on their tail and wear them down. Bentley is incredibly elusive and quick but not a bruiser. Give me a 6’ 225 demon with decent speed and incredible power to wear down defenses so Bentley can come in and fly past them

They’re going to pull out all the stops to get Bentley back. At this time I believe he will be. Use 100k of Judkins money to keep him comfortable and happy

You’re clearly well connected enough that I believe what you’re saying about how the coaches and players feel. I just meant there can be a tendency to pile on after the fact and trash someone on the way out the door which isn’t really necessary. We can say ole miss can survive without him without pretending he was trash.
Also HJJ was arguing months ago that he wasn’t even worth $500k which was just ridiculous.
The important part is we had to make a good faith effort to keep him as a way of showing future recruits/portal players that we aren’t going to be an unserious program who isn’t going to pay good players. Nick Saban can tell someone to hit the highway because he has a cabinet full of 5 stars. We don’t.

Keep Bentley, get another portal RB, add another 2-3 OL, and a couple more DBs.
Better team chemistry and overall a better team. It’s hard to say, but I sneakily feel this is a major positive to our team which is weird to say when losing one of our best RBs of my lifetime.

We have a great passing game and Judkins no doubt benefited from that but we are 57/43% run/pass and need at least two quality backs.
