Thoughts and prayers to Ryan’s family. That dude had a cannon of an arm.

There are situations to talk shite. And situations not to talk shite. This is one of those situations to not talk shite. But I may be wrong.

That was not directed to you; but the person you were responding to.

I figured that, as I was calling out a guy who was being disrespectful in this thread

And I totally agree. I know this is a smack talk site, but there's a time and place for everything, and this thread isn't the place for that stuff.

But appreciate the clarification

I figured you would pick it up; since I am the one Daniel was offering to buy tampons for; but I wanted to clarify things. No reason for us to get sideways. This isn’t the thread for anyone to get sideways with anyone.

The story changes...

“It just seems to be a tragic accident and not something to do with the conditions of the surf, the tides or the currents,” Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Arden told WEAR.

So what killed Mallett? Repeated calls to the Okaloosa County Medical Examiner’s Office went unreturned, but Destin Beach Safety Division Chief Joe D’Agostino said the extreme heat may have been a factor in Mallett’s death, according to the outlet.

Right, grasping. It makes no damn sense. Who tf dies of heat in the water...at 35? I have my own ideas as I doubt the real cause is anything we've been told so far.

He drowned. I don’t know the details, but shite happened. They swam out as a group and apparently didn’t take any flotation devices like kayaks or boogie boards.

It’s very unfortunate. Sad. But shite happens.

News said it was Yellow flag not Red flag, so riptide shouldn't have been that bad. I used to body surf all the time on Red flag days, not smart but I was actually wanting to get out to deep water to catch the bigger waves.

Yes there are times where I'd get pulled further out, but I know to swim parallel with the beach, the current will eventually bring you back in, albeit 200-300 or so yards west down from where you got in the water.

Yeah, there's more to this story, no doubt.

Unfortunately it's probably drugs and alcohol

I hate how people on this board turn into such self righteous fricks in memorial threads.

When I was 18 years old and in the best shape of my life I was on lake ouachita camping. There was a cove by our campsite and I was on the other side, it didn’t look that far across so instead of walking around it I decided to swim across.

At the halfway point I knew I had made a mistake but I was at the point of no return. I did make it but if I wasn’t in that type of shape I would have been a statistic. No drugs or alcohol involved.

Don’t assume things you know nothing about, accidents happen.

The whole thing is horribly sad. What a great talent and a good guy. We were going to go to Gulf Shores then got a place for a week at Norfolk Lake. Glad we did it. The Gulf has been dangerous this year.

Back in college at a party at the lake I was hammered as shite and someone dared me I couldn’t swim across lLake Tuscaloosa and back. When I got back they were like “who is this guy climbing up on the dock”. I am still here. Pretty sure there is a lot of drugs and drinking that happens at the beach. Not saying that is the case; but people lose their mind at the beach.

I followed Mallett from his Texas hs days and was nervous when he transferred to Arkansas. Bama dodged a bullet in 2010. RIP

I'm here in Destin now. Yellow flag but absolutely NO rips..... nice beautiful Gulf water. It's hot as hell down here and people are packed in like sardines and littering everywhere.
Shooting fireworks out in to the Gulf for the marine life to enjoy. Damn pisses me off.
I have seen two heat strokes on the beach.
