The Arizona Cardinals have something similar in Glendale. We hung out there before the NC game in 2011.

Yea, it's not nearly as good.

I assume that they hope that the location on the river and near campus makes it a retail area that people visit year round, because part of the appeal of places like the Battery is that they are attached to stadiums that have games or events 100+ nights a year (including concerts and other games played at the location). A college football stadium hosts 20 events a year, maybe? Max?

The entire financial setup of the Battery - down to the lease agreement structures for the tenants - are tied into the seasonality of in-season and out-of season.

I'd guess that the location for this has some decent year-end potential due to it's location near both campus and downtown (and being on the river), plus the overall collapse of the strip and push of almost all bar/nightlife activity downtown the last decade or so.

The fact it will be overlooking the river makes it pretty sweet. I’m surprised it has taken them so long to open more restaurants and bars with the Calhoun’s vibe tbh. A line of bars and restaurants right on the water will be so cool.

Someone mentioned the stadium earlier, the south end zone renovations will be done well before this is built.

that area host a lot more than 20 events a year. Where they are talking about building this is along the river they have built up over the years. Also Thompson-Boling Arena is less than half mile, and this will be beneficial during baseball season as well. Just between, Baseball, Football, MBB, and WBB there were 81 home games alone. The Atlanta Braves have 80 games at home this year, not including playoffs. Truist Park holds 41,084. Neyland Stadium holds 101,915, TBA holds 21,678 Lindsey Nelson holds about 5,000 now, but it’s expanding next season to around 8500-10,000 people when expansions are completed. Now add the concerts and other events that are held in Neyland and TBA. This place will make a tone of money during Football and Basketball season. Right now only place near Neyland and TBA to eat on the River is Calhouns on the river. Don’t even try to get in at Calhouns on game day unless you plan on waiting for 2 hours or you get there right when they open. There is a lot of opportunity, but only issue is going to be parking. It looks like this project will take out the G2 parking garage. Parking is already limited i. this area already and this will not help it at all.
