Entertainment District Neyland Stadium

The University of Tennessee wants to build an entertainment district around Neyland Stadium that is modeled on the Atlanta Braves Battery complex. Genius idea. The Braves have the best stadium and team owned venue complex in sports.

I was just saying that what Tennessee fans needed were more opportunities to get blindingly drunk before kickoff

I mean, I don't know if i'd call copying an idea a genius idea, but if they do it well would be fantastic.

What kind of laws does the UT campus have around bars and things being on campus?

Thanks for making me give Clay Travis a click.

But seriously, this is a great concept — I would probably just improve the actual stadium first.

Or is the revenue from that supposed to help fund future projects like that?

No troll.

This past season on the field and the admin finally getting their shite straightened out has me incredibly hopeful for the future.

If LSU did this kind of thing around Tiger Stadium, it would go hood really quick.

The Arizona Cardinals have something similar in Glendale. We hung out there before the NC game in 2011.

I have never seen the Atlanta Braves entertainment district. Have you ever seen and experienced Busch Stadium, Ballpark Village, and the rest of the Cardinals entertainment district?

First, tour the trailer park outside Neyland. Then lineup for your tetanus shots to protect against that erector set of a stadium. Don't forget to try the Vols handcrafted meth, it's sure to be a hit with the whole gang!

I can see the convenience of this. The butt chuggers can line up outside the stadium to receive their alcoholic medication in a seamless fashion.

Soooooooo here’s the start to which schools can build the biggest shopping malls, bars, movie theaters and nightclubs around their stadium to lure in recruits

I mean for Christ sake, they already have stupid waterfalls and shite in their locker rooms.

It’s just getting stupid

We go to 10 or so Braves games a year and the atmosphere at the Battery is fantastic on game day or not. It is a little generic in a shopping mall sort of way but that's not necessarily a bad thing...what it lacks in color and characters it makes up for in safety etc. and is perfectly suited for families and couples who are out for a few hours and not interested in getting whip roaring drunk or dining in a 3 star restaurant. The crowd inside the stadium though is HORRIBLE since the Braves moved to Smyrna. The move has enabled locals to attend games other than those on weekends and the local area is home to one of the largest concentrations of Karens and Darens in the free world...and they are present in huge numbers and practicing their art at a high level. The numbers of these people at braves games increased when the Braves moved out of Fulton County Stadium but they flat our dominate the crowd at Truist. The stadium is a VAST improvement over Turned Field and the Battery is really fun for what it is meant to be...but Braves crowds have become nearly intolerable since the team moved to their backyard...Imagine 25,000 or so Marjorie Taylor Greens vying for position as the most annoying person in a space and you will get an idea of what a typical Braves crowd is like today. MTG by herself is entertaining.....25,000 or so of them is just unpleasant.

If they put in a mall, this will be the perfect anchor store.
